Kali Harkins InsertAbout Kali

If there is one thing many people who join the beauty industry have in common, it’s their passion for helping people. As a former admissions counselor, I was always very interested in knowing what prospective students were doing before pursuing their need to be in the beauty industry. A lot of people were in the medical field like nursing or counseling or teachers, all of which are known in some way for helping others.

“Before I enrolled in Evergreen’s Master Esthetics program, I was an early childhood educator for seven years. I taught at a private pre-K for over four years and then third grade at an international school in Malaysia for two years. I love children and have always taken positions working with them. It was rewarding, but I realized it was not something I wanted to pursue long term. I was always interested in skincare and make-up, which led me to enroll in the esthetics program. The more I have learned about skincare, the more I have fallen in love with this profession!

I know I have found my passion!”

Knowing that she has found her passion and now learned more about skincare, I was interested in knowing what her strengths and specialties are. “Facials and waxing! If both are done well, the client leaves feeling amazing. There is nothing more rewarding than client satisfaction!”

The Evergreen Experience

If you are familiar with the Seattle area, you’ll know that there are a number of different beauty schools in Kali Harkins DMA Work 2addition to Evergreen’s locations. And at Evergreen we always want anyone who enrolls in our programs to feel comfortable and confident that we will be the best fit for them. For Kali, “I chose Evergreen Beauty College because it stuck out in mind against other beauty schools in the area. I was intrigued by the Nuts and Bolts program and I was excited to see that the school provided its students with appropriate medical training equipment for laser hair removal and IPL treatments.”

Once actually enrolled in an EBC program, we hope that we continue to support you in your education and to be able to make the transition after graduation as easy as possible! To do that, our curriculum and assignments are designed to prepare you as much as possible for what it will be like out in the “real world”. For Kali, “I love learning about different products and ingredients and how they work on the skin. The more knowledgeable an esthetician is in that area, the better they can advise his or her clientele.” When asked what assignments have been the most helpful for her, “In my opinion, studying for our weekly tests have been the most beneficial! By preparing for each test with theory, our workbooks and group discussions, I feel more prepared to sit for my upcoming state board testing!”

We are so excited to see what Kali has in store after graduation in a few months and we can’t wait to see what else she accomplishes! We wanted to know what her plans are for after graduation. “I love helping clients relax and feel great! I would love to work at a day spa or medi spa and continue to grow my clientele!” As far as any advice for incoming students? “If I could give advice to any future students, it would be work hard, study and be present!” Great advice, Kali and thank you so much for your insight!

As mentioned above, Kali is set to graduate at the beginning of August, SO, if you are interested in coming in to get a service done by her, make sure to book an appointment soon! In the meantime, you can catch Kali posting her work on Instagram kaliharkins_esthetics.
