Cosmetology Student Success Story: Lina Suon

I am excited to share Ms. Lina Suon accomplishments from our Bellevue location. No stranger to being awarded for excellence in one area or another, Ms. Lina was recognized this past month once more for her dedication to marketing her brand, her. If you check out any of her social media profiles, you will see the dedication and passion for the beauty industry with the post you’ll see. Making connections and building clientele are key and this gal right here knows it! Congrats Lina!

About Lina Suon

“I was a full time stay at home mom and worked at Franz Bakery part time. I have always wanted to do hair since I was 18 years old because I knew I’d be good at it and it’ll be something that I can be proud of to tell people, “Hey, I’m a hair stylist”. It has finally happened, after so many year of trying to get to beauty school.”

We asked Lina why she chose to attend Evergreen Beauty College to start her career off in and her response, “I have visited many beauty schools in the past but I knew Evergreen would be a great school for me. I had read all the reviews and have talked to some of the students who attended the college and heard nothing but positive feedback!!! I’m really happy and proud to say that Evergreen is my school and I love everyone here,” expresses Lina.

The Evergreen Experience

Ms. Lina shares some highlights of her program, what has helped her, services she enjoys, along with areas of strengths:

“Every month our teacher gives us Bingo sheets to complete and these Bingo sheets have a little bit of everything on them! Everything from haircuts to perms and Balayage services. You name it, and it’s there. I feel like I have no choice but to work on them and to turn them in on time for credit. They give us opportunities to work on our timing and to work on areas we are lacking in,” explains Lina. This assignment gets the future professionals to step out of their comfort zones for different services and forces them to refine the skills that are harder or less exciting. Giving the students well rounded service techniques so no matter where they end up going, they will be ready.

“I love cutting men’s and women’s haircuts along with all over color services and would consider these to be my specialties thus far.”

“I feel like we’re all good at what we’re doing, but what would set me apart from other stylist would be my personality and passion that I have in doing hair. I listen and will always be honest with my clients, 110%, on what I can and can not do which is one reason why clients should book with me. Also because I take pride in my work and I will deliver the best service to them with professional and a positive manner at all time.”

The Next Step

“After I graduate from the cosmetology program I plan on working in a salon where they can mold me into the best hair stylist that I can be. Giving me the freedom to grow professionally. My long term goal would be to eventually be a salon owner of my very own,” shares Lina.

“I do have words of advice for any incoming students: always stay true to yourself, always be willing to learn and to stay positive, even when your going through tough times. You can always find someone to help or a way around the tough times. Oh, and come to school! Get the most of your education!” says Lina.

Ms. Lina graduates next March 2019 and what better way to support her other than to stop in and see her in action at our Renton campus as she will be transferring there in October!
