Cosmetology Student Success Story: Sophia Pitt
For our North Seattle campus we are pleased to share the achievements of our Cosmetology student Ms. Sophia Pitt. Being highlighted for the strives she’s taken in order to shape her professional brand while in school along with implementing thoughtful habits like this at the beginning of her beauty career is setting her up for a thriving future.
About Sophia Pitt
Being a stylist has been the only path Ms. Sophia has ever wanted to pursue, “I have passion for the industry, and for everything beauty as this has been the only career I imagine myself doing and enjoying.” Sophia has always been a hard worker, she even graduated from high school 6 months early because of that drive. During her time off she worked full time to save for beauty school. “I love making people feel like their most beautiful selves. It’s a creative outlet, and just something I really genuinely enjoy being apart of. When I’m doing hair, time just seems to fly on by!” Sophia recently began working at a salon, and shares that she can’t wait until she is at that point in her life.
The Evergreen Experience
For Ms. Sophia, choosing to pursue her dreams at EBC was really due to the special and unique atmosphere at Evergreen. Out of the other schools she had toured Sophia shares, “This was the best environment, everyone was so nice and down to earth. I love the culture. I know I’ve made the right choice. I love my educators and the wonderful people I have met during my time here!” Ms. Sophia has already formed friendships with her classmates that will last long past her time in the program. “I am so happy I started when I did, because I am so grateful for the friends that I’ve made along the way.”
Sophia has taken a ‘just say yes’ mentality when it comes to the different elements of her program. With that mind-set and attitude when asked what has been the most beneficial part of her schooling so far Sophia shares, “Being on the salon floor and getting that real life experience.” A true social and curious person by nature it always comes back to the engagement and interactions for Ms. Sophia, “I enjoy working with people and learning about people’s lives. My favorite part of the program so far are the connections I’ve made with the clients, and the people in the program!” While building those wonderful bonds, Sophia likes that she can also express herself creatively in the process. It’s of no surprise when considering what makes her notable as a budding stylist isn’t her technical skills but rather her soft-skills, and her ability to stay calm in a stressful situation. All the while making people feel special.
The Next Step
Ms. Sophia is still in the early stages of her journey and hasn’t thought too far ahead to where she would like this career to take her. “In the future I could definitely see myself specializing in everything to do with color, foils, blondes, and balayages,” Sophia shares. Although her plans may not be concrete as of this moment, Sophia doesn’t lack in conviction of what makes her significant and memorable “I am young, and I’m a hard worker.” Not unlike a majority of our future professionals, a long term goal of her’s is becoming a salon owner. Knowing the path to get there isn’t easily paved Ms. Sophia adds, “I want to rent my own chair to start while I continue my education as much as I can for as long as I can.” With an ambition that far surpasses her young age, and a relaxed personality to-boot, it’s clear to see that whatever Ms. Sophia sets her mind to she will achieve. Some last words of wisdom for those embarking on this beautiful career, Sophia stated, “Don’t be embarrassed. We’re all learning and no one is going to judge you.” We could not have put it more simply ourselves.
Ms. Sophia is set to graduate early October of this year. Congratulations once again to our wonderful future professional Sophia Pitt, this will be the first of many accomplishments and achievements for this hairdresser in the making!
