Diary of a Cosmetology Student, Part 4
This last month of school has flown by! We’ve been busier than usual and hair cutting month has been a challenge. Anyone who has ever had a bad hair cut can agree, that getting a hair cut can be stressful. Turns out that giving one is even more so! There is a lot to learn in a short amount of time and keeping up was harder for me than I thought it would be.
At first I struggled with getting the techniques right, but it all started to make sense pretty quickly. I’m still a little nervous with hair cutting, but I have gotten better with practice and I know that with time I will improve even more. We had to do our test outs on models, and both my men’s cut, and women’s cut turned out perfectly! I was so anxious for nothing, because once I started the test out I felt really comfortable and it went much smoother than I could have hoped for. Seeing the models react to their new hair was amazing! It felt so rewarding to see how happy they were, I am so proud to be responsible for people feeling great!
I’m finished with back class now, which means I am going to start taking clients soon out on the salon floor. I am so excited to really start putting everything we have been learning and practicing to use! I can’t wait to get more experience, build relationships with clientele, and really get my career started!
