Digital Marketing Award: Tamara Adams

I am so excited to introduce you to Everett’s September Digital Marketing Award winner, Tamara Adams in the Nail Technology program. I will admit I do not know as much about the Nail Technology program as the other programs Evergreen offers, however, it is one of the programs I, as a staff member, am most impressed with. I’ve seen the work the students do and the differences Evergreen is making in the industry, and even though I am not as familiar with it, I am so proud of our Nail Tech program. And Tamara is one of the reasons why! Take a look at her journey so far in the nail industry and where she sees herself going after graduation.

About Tamara

Just scrolling through Tamara’s Instagram @happymama92581, you can tell how important her boys and family are to her. It seems like she has found that perfect balance between school life and family. “Before I enrolled at Evergreen, I was a stay-at-home mom to my 3 amazing boys! I enjoyed every single second of that, of course, but I needed to find somethig that I could do to expand my creativity, keep me social, help other people and all while providing a career and income for my family. Bingo! After way too much searching and lots of denial (mainly believing I couldn’t do it) here I am! And my only regret is not doing it sooner!,” Tamara said. And as dedicated as she is to her family, she is just as dedicated to the clientele she has already built for herself while at school. “I think what really sets me apart from others is my genuine compassion and concern for others. When I ask my clients how things are going, about their families, how they like their nails…it’s just making small talk or asking routine things I’m required to. I’m sincerely interested in each person I get to spend that time with every day. Most days, getting to do their nails is more of a bonus and a client service quickly becomes more like a visit with a friend.” Wow, Tamara, you have really figured out what it means to “WOW your customer” and how beauty really can change lives!

The Evergreen Experience

At Evergreen’s last graduation, the commencement speaker was Jan Arnold, a true innovator in the nail and fashion industries. It was amazing to listen to her talk about what a difference getting your nails done can make in someone’s life, not only for your clients but for the nail techs themselves and I believe that Tamara completely embodies that philosophy. “I think one of my favorite parts of the Nail Tech program is continually discovering new things that can be done with nails. When I first started, I assumed I would be learning mostly about acrylic nails and the basics. Boy, was I wrong! This world of nails is incredible and the sky’s the limit with what can be done with them! Much like all aspects of fashion, nails can be an amazing tool for self-expression and I love it!” Tamara explained.

As far as how Tamara made the decision to go to school and start her career? “I did tour another school before deciding to attend Evergreen Beauty College and I knew from the minute that I walked in the door that this was where I wanted to be. Immediately, everyone was so welcoming and friendly. Not a frown in sight. Every student was working hard, but so clearly loving it! It really is a family environment. Every instructor will jump in to help you in any way they can with just about anything to make sure that you succeed. I’m so thankful that I made the decision to start!” We love to hear that you are enjoying your time at Evergreen so much, Tamara!

The Next Step

Tamara, who is expected to graduate in early February 2018, already has a job lined up! “I do have a salon family that I will be joining after I graduate in Oak Harbor (Whidbey Island) and I am so excited to see where my career will go from there!! So, if you are living up north, come see me at Polished Studio in downtown Oak Harbor in just a couple of months!” Way to get the ball rolling early for yourself, Tamara! We can’t wait to see what you accomplish out in the industry 🙂

If you are looking to support our students, what better way than to come get your nails done by Tamara before she graduates in the new year! The holidays are coming up and who doesn’t like to have their nails looking fabulous during this time of year?!
