Do It At Home: Chiseled Cheekbones Without Plastic Surgery
Sharp-looking cheekbones slim the face and add a touch of refinement to your facial features.
Not all of us are lucky enough to be born with chiseled cheekbones. But now you can get the look without having to invest in expensive and complicated plastic surgery. All you need is your regular make-up kit!
How celebrities do it
Many celebrities and fashion models have turned prominent cheekbones into a coveted look. However, if you want chiseled cheekbones such as the likes of Angelina Jolie, Helena Bonham Carter, Kim Kardashian or Keira Knightly, read on. It might not be as difficult as you think.
The following technique is called ‘contouring’, and works on most people regardless of natural face shape. Try it for yourself:
Things you’ll need
Luckily, you’ll most likely already have everything you need for perfectly chiseled cheekbones already. But take a look at the list below:
Blush: Go for a soft color that’s right for your skin tone, such as soft pink, rose or peach. A cream or mousse blush is ideal as those tend to blend flawlessly into your skin, however a powder blush could do just as nicely.
Highlighter: You can get these in either liquid or powder versions. Alternatively, you can use a light-colored shimmer powder or blush.
Bronzer: Choose a cream or powder bronzer that is darker than your current skin tone. This is the tricky part, as it still needs to co-ordinate with your original color. For the darkening step, you could opt for a foundation that’s a couple of stages darker than what you’d usually go for.
How to apply
Start by applying your foundation or tinted moisturizer just as you usually would, but stay away from the powder for now. Make sure you have everything close-by, and if possible try the following steps in a well-lighted room with a good quality mirror.
Step one: Blend the bronzer or dark foundation into the natural hollows of your cheeks using an upward diagonal motion. Make sure it is well blended with no visible lines. It should have the appearance of a shadow.
Step two: Grab your highlighter and apply it high up on your cheekbones, along the most prominent lines – make sure to blend well. This will really make your cheekbones stand out.
Step three: Now get your blush and apply it to the apples of your cheeks, using an upward, sweeping motion. Small strokes will keep you focused high on the cheekbone, but we’re sure we don’t have to tell you to stay away from the eye area.
Step four: Finish off the look with a light layer of powder or finishing spray.
These three products applied together create an optical illusion that gives you the impression of perfect chiseled cheekbones. They draw the eye upwards to the most prominent areas of your face.
