Esthetics Student Success Story: Kayla Dolan

About Kayla Dolan

A genuine interest in an area is what normally leads us down a path of starting something new. With that being said, it isn’t as easy as it sounds like when your identifying what the underlining interest is, and that spark may take you down a few dead-ends until you wean out any false messages. Ms. Kayla shares her personal journey on the matter, “A few years back I was enrolled in an apprentice program with a salon for the Cosmetology program. I ended up completing around five months there until I realized that I wasn’t fully passionate about doing hair. I ended up closing out my time with that program, and got a few part time jobs until I decided what I really wanted to do. Wasting money or time on something I wasn’t fully committed to wasn’t an option, and I’m glad I made the decision I did then. I decided I wanted to do Esthetics school after getting eyelash extensions for the first time. I love how much of a perfectionist you can be in that service, and not only that but I was interested in the other parts of Esthetic too, like waxing and facials.”

Ms. Kayla Dolan, an Esthetics student in Mount Vernon created this beautiful look on a client while in school.

The Evergreen Experience

“So needless to say, I made the jump into Esthetics with Evergreen Beauty College. The reason I decided on EBC was for the location, and it felt like a fun, and warm environment when you step foot onsite. I have made so many life long friends, and have learned so much in my short time here already,” Ms. Kayla offered.

Since starting the Esthetics program with us Ms. Kayla has shared some of her highlights of what she has enjoyed, what has helped her so far, and what sets her apart from other skin therapist:

“So far in school, I do honestly love every part of the Esthetic program and hope to continue doing facials, waxing, and lash extensions in the future. Although, I really would love to specialize in waxing. For me personally, I think the most helpful thing out of the Esthetic course has been the hands on learning. It’s exciting to get to watch demonstrations, and then immediately try to do it yourself afterwards. It is so rewarding to watch yourself improve from the beginning to where you may be currently.”

“Customer service is a big strength of mine. I love people and communicating with clients. It’s about really hearing them as that’s a huge part of the job success. Being connected with my clients is my main goal. When you have that relationship with them, it will encourage my clients to continually book services with me and this in return gives me an advantage over others.”

“I look forward to continuing my education in any way I can, so I can be the best that I can possibly be in every area. I am very dedicated and determined to make my clients feel comfortable in every service that they are receiving so they can relax and unwind for the day.

The world is a busy place, and this is my chance to bring some balance to my clients.”

Ms. Kayla executes a customized Vitamin C facial that leaves a client with some brightening, lightening, and tightening.

The Next Step

As Ms. Kayla has just recently graduated from our Esthetics program in our Mount Vernon location, she is already manifesting her goals that will soon follow, “After graduation I am going to pass my state boards first and foremost, and from there on I am going to find a job where I can keep learning and practicing so I can get really comfortable in the spa environment. I love other people, so I hope to have others around me wherever I may find myself land. Maybe eventually booth rent, or open my own spa,” adds Kayla. “The best advice I can think of to any incoming students would be to enjoy yourself and don’t stress out. Have as much fun as you can because it goes by so quickly. Get as many clients in as possible, hands on experience is the most helpful thing in school,” continued Kayla.
