How to Use Mayonnaise Hair Treatment for Damaged Hair

Using mayonnaise hair treatment for damaged hair may well sound outlandish to many people. While most of us are very familiar with the culinary applications of this condiment, not so many are aware of how it can be used as part of a beauty treatment plan.

Most of us will suffer from some kind of dryness or damage to our hair at some stage in our lives, whatever our hair type or favoured style. Commercially-bought treatments can be hugely expensive, though, and rely on all kinds of chemicals to get their results. Using mayonnaise can be a more natural alternative.

How to Use Mayonnaise Hair Treatment for Damaged Hair

It is not difficult to carry out a mayonnaise treatment at home, either, though you may get better results by entrusting a professional to do it. Either way, the first step is to buy a jar of mayonnaise. Any kind will usually do, though the higher the quality, the better the results that you can expect.

Rinse Your Hair in Warm Water

The first step to carrying out a treatment of this kind is to prepare your hair. This is very simply done. Rinse your hair in warm water, so that it is damp, but not drenched or soaked.

Apply the Mayonnaise

Next, apply the mayonnaise to your hair with your hand. Obviously, the amount that you decide to use depends on the length and thickness of your hair. Give the hair a good coating so that all the oils in the mayonnaise can properly take effect.

Once you have rubbed a requisite amount of mayonnaise into your hair, you need to trap heat around your head. You can do this with a plastic wrap or a shower cap. If you do not have either of these things, then a plastic wrap or plastic bag will serve instead.

For the best results, this wrap should stay in place for at least 20 minutes. You can leave it on longer if you feel that your hair is particularly badly damaged. The mayonnaise can then be washed out, using a normal shampoo.

Washing off the Mayonnaise

You may need to use extra care when washing, to ensure that all the mayonnaise has been properly removed. Products contained within mayonnaise, such as olive oil and eggs, can also be good for your hair.

This simple and accessible treatment should help repair at least some of the damage your hair may have sustained. Always consult a specialist if you think that your damaged hair may have an underlying health issue. Alternatively, you can visit a beauty school salon and get your hair done for just a fraction of what is charged at regular salons.
