Master Esthetics Student Success Story: Mariia Kanievska

About Mariia Kanievska

For some it takes a while to find your passion and start the journey of chasing your dreams, but Ms. Mariia was among the lucky ones who knew what they wanted to do right out of high school.

Mariia explains how getting one service done had turned into her realizing her passion, “Before I enrolled at Evergreen Beauty College I was a senior at Mariner High School here in Everett. One day I was getting my lashes done and I just fell in love with the environment I was in. That is when I decided that this field is something I wanted to be a part of.”

We asked Ms. Mariia why she chose Evergreen Beauty College, her response, “I chose Evergreen Beauty College because I have heard great things about this school. I know a few students that have graduated here in the past and I’ve been told how safe, professional and knowledgeable the learning experience is at this school. I could not wait to attend so I booked an appointment for my nails to see what the atmosphere was like first hand, and the teachers, current students, and the environment were welcoming. It was as if I was meant to go to this school.” Upon graduating high school, Mariia immediately enrolled with us and began her Master Esthetics journey.

The Evergreen Experience

Since starting her program only a few month ago, Ms. Mariia has hit the ground running. Recognized in an all school assembly for building her brand and creative connections, Mariia accepted an award acknowledging her dedication in building her business.

Ms. Mariia expresses what she likes most in Master Esthetics so far and what she’s excited to learn in the coming months, “I have not learned everything yet, but as of now I love doing facials and microdermabrasion. On the other note, I am super excited and looking forward to learning about the laser hair removal machine along with getting into lash extensions.” When asked what assignments she finds to be most helpful, Mariia recognizes our hands-on assignments. “You really get to experience everything in person which I find very helpful because my classmates can tell me what I need to work on or what I am doing well in. It is also helpful when classmates do services on me because then, you have a better understanding of how your client feels when they get that specific service done by you,” Mariia explains.

Ms. Mariia prides herself not only in her technical skills, but in her dedication to creating a safe environment for her clients while helping them look and feel their best. “I chose Master Esthetics because I have always been passionate about the beauty industry. I love making people feel confident about themselves, which is why I love this line of work. Being an Esthetician is also very rewarding, especially once the client starts to see the progress you are making. I am confident in my skills such as waxing, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and facials, but most importantly I am confident in my ability to conduct a safe workspace, by disinfecting my tools as well as common areas,” Mariia shares with us. Ms. Mariia embodies all the traits that a successful Esthetician has, from being genuinely caring and attentive to her clients, to being on top of safety and sanitation needed in her work area.

The Next Step

Thinking into the future, Ms. Mariia mentions her goals post-graduation, “My plan after I graduate is to work at a spa that does facials, lashes, and waxing. A place to gain more experience and knowledge for my career. Eventually, I want to open up my own spa in the near future. Something on the smaller side. like an individual suit.” In addition to that, Mariia says she wants to add microblading to her list of expertise after graduation which will lead her into continuing education, more advanced classes and techniques.

Mariia also shares some words of advice to any future professionals looking to start beauty school, “My advice for the incoming students is to work as a team, learn from the people around you, be on top of your homework, and don’t be scared to ask questions because the educators are very knowledgeable and open. Also, make a social media account which will get your before and after pictures out there for people to see your work and get to know you.”
