Practical Skin Care Tips
Facts have it that the skin is the largest organ; therefore utmost skin care should be taken to keep it healthy. Whereas many people and websites claim to know the perfect products and mechanisms to keep the skin healthy, you should be extra careful when using skin care products especially new products.
Basic Skin Care Tips
In order to keep one’s skin healthy it is important, first and foremost, to know the type of skin one has. Basic skin types include oily, dry, combined and sensitive. Skin type depends on diet, genetics, environment, exercise and general health. As such, some or all these factors need to be considered when choosing effective skin care products. A simple procedure of identifying your skin type is placing a tissue on the forehead for a couple of minutes. If the tissue comes out heavily blotched, it signifies an oily skin while untainted tissue signifies a dry skin.
The use of oils, make-up, soaps and other products on the skin keeps the skin covered. Effective removal of these products must be done with a cleanser. Depending on the skin type, a person must use a cleaner that does not dry up the skin excessively or irritate it. When choosing a cleanser, it is important to consult dermatologists if one is not sure what his/ her skin type is.
Exfoliating and Moisturizing
Most people do not give their skins a chance to breathe. In addition to cleansing, people must use facial or body scrubs to remove dead skin and allow the skin to open pores. Scrubs and other exfoliates must not be too acidic or contain extreme perfumes.
However, the choice of exfoliate will depend on the skin type. Regardless of the skin type, the skin needs to be moisturized to prevent it from drying up.
The Sun emits gamma and UV lights which, in addition to drying up the skin, can cause skin cancer. To prevent the skin damage caused by the Sun, you must ensure minimal exposure to the harmful sun rays. This can be achieved through wearing protective clothing and or an umbrella and wearing sunscreen. Skin care products, including sunscreen, can be bought alone or mixed with other products such as lotion.
