These People Quit Their Office Jobs to Work in Beauty and Never Looked Back

beauty industrySure, it might seem like a dream to get paid to be sitting at a desk all day. Other than a few meetings all you have to do is split your time between pushing paper and sneaking peaks at Facebook. Sounds great but that all gets old pretty fast. Here is why so many people are trading in their boring nine to five jobs for an exciting career in beauty.

Firm Work Hours & Subservience to Managers

In traditional office jobs there is the set standard of nine am to five pm work schedule. This means that you have to wake up early to look presentable and then wade through rush hour traffic on the way to work and back home.

When you get to work, you’ll have to do menial, repetitive tasks delegated to you by your boss, and by the time the day is done, you will have likely accomplished very little, but will still be beat. Forget the traditional nine to five worker hours! With a career in beauty you will be able to set your own hours.

Underemployed With No Chance of Career Advancement

After the economic crash in 2008, many recent college grads, and even those already working were forced into taking jobs that did not align with their personal interests. Because of this, employees are under stimulated, and frankly, bored.

The Atlantic states that, “Using Census data, the bank’s researchers found that, through 2012, roughly 44 percent of working, young college graduates were “underemployed,” meaning they were in a job that did not require their degree.” Working a dead end job resigns you to a life of apathy, where you’ll accept just about anything.

Instead, smart former office workers have jumped ship to move on to greener pastures, pursuing a career in beauty, which they know will actively challenge them, and give them their desired job satisfaction that they wouldn’t get anywhere else.

Being Actively Disengaged in Office Jobs

Chances are that if you are working in an office job you are either not passionate about the work you do, worse still you might be actively disengaged.

According to research done by Gallup, “The bulk of employees worldwide — 63% — are “not engaged,” meaning they lack motivation and are less likely to invest discretionary effort in organizational goals or outcomes. And 24% are “actively disengaged,” indicating they are unhappy and unproductive at work and liable to spread negativity to coworkers.

In rough numbers, this translates into 900 million not engaged and 340 million actively disengaged workers around the globe.” This has negative repercussions that can extend beyond work life.

Those who reported low employee satisfaction were more prone to being disengaged in other parts of their life, which actively affects familial and romantic relationships, friendships, and more. Pursuing a career that you are actively interested in – like a career in beauty – not only leads to having a fun work environment, but an enjoyable life all around!
