Esthetics Student Success Story: Ciarra Padilla
About Ciarra Padilla
Figuring out your future and what kind of career or even industry you want to go into is always a hard thing. When you’re in high school, you get asked what your 5 year or 10 year plan is, and most of the time people have no idea what to say. That wasn’t the case for one of our Tier 1 estheticians, Ciarra Padilla. Ms. Ciarra has had a love for skin care routines since high school sharing “All throughout high school, I loved skin care routines and making sure I had a good routine.”
We asked Ms. Padilla what led her into pursuing a career in Esthetics, she replies with “I had bad acne in 6th grade, and felt so insecure about it. All my friends had clear skin and with that I always felt like people were staring at my acne. After trying all the things I could find, I grew a passion for skin care. And now here I am, loving everything about Esthetics.” Ciarra goes on to explain that she learned to love doing lash extensions as well. “After I knew I loved lash extensions, skin care, and helping people feel beautiful in their own skin, I knew Esthetics was the path I wanted to take.” Ciarra explained.
As we get to know Ciarra, we ask her what sets her apart from other estheticians that make clients want to book with her, she says “I start everyday off with a positive attitude, and I’m always willing to learn new things and expand my knowledge as an esthetician. I am confident and passionate to where it shows through my work.” When you can see a drive and passion focused on the client the way Ms. Ciarra’s shares, it is evident that her success in this industry is at the tips of her fingers, and she has taken the plunge in making an impact on the individuals she meets.
The Evergreen Experience
After graduating high school, Ciarra was ready to start her career in Esthetics. When asked why she choose Evergreen Beauty College, Ciarra shares, ” I chose Evergreen because of the Master Esthetics program they offer, as well as the multiple schedules of the program. It’s also a plus that the school is in the same area as my home and work, as this will help with travel time throughout the week.”
Ms. Ciarra goes on to share what she believes her strengths are and what she likes most about the program, she offered, “I love it all, but I’d have to say my two favorite service’s to preform are facials and lash extensions as of now. I love that during a facial treatment, I feel relaxed and can really focus on giving the client a great experience. As for lash extensions, I’m absolutely obsessed with the outcomes and end looks. Now, if I had to pick just one thing, I’d have to then say that my favorite thing would be hands down facials. There are so many implements you can explore and add to facials, and you can make each facial unique to any kind of skin type It’s just so versatile.”
Through out the program, there are so many assignments, projects and tests the students have to take and pass before they can move up and on throughout the program and onto state boards. When Ciarra was asked what assignments have helped her the most through school, she shares “The test outs we do throughout Phase 1 helped me out a lot. I was actually able to see what I can improve on immediately after, and if I was completely comfortable doing the service on a client. After each test I could always tell if I was ready to do it on a client or if I needed to practice more.” EBC calls it ‘Feedforward’, and we believe that it’s this alone that give the educator and future professionals a successful dynamic to be able to grow in ourselves, along with our professional skills and knowledge.
The Next Step
As Ciarra continues with her program, she shares with us what her plan is for after graduating. “After I graduate, I want to take the Master Esthetics program here at Evergreen. I really want to work with lasers and learn all the amazing services I can offer. In the meantime, while waiting for the next Master Esthetics class to start, I will be planning to work at a lash bar or in a spa.” Gaining that real world experience, building on her clientele and skills will only make that transition more smooth to becoming that next level industry professional.
Ciarra shares some sound advice to any incoming students, “Read every word of the catalog and be ready to learn and take in all the information. There’s a lot of information and technique to learn in Phase 1. Come in with a positive attitude and put your all into each assignment, it pays off towards the end.”
Ms. Ciarra is set to graduate in June, 2021.
