Cosmetology Student Success Story: Adreana Najera
I am excited to share a win for our Yakima campus by a leading student, Ms. Adreana Najera. Adreana was awarded this past month for reaching out and dedication to marketing her brand as she added Evergreen’s Digital Marketing Award to her portfolio. I was excited to get to know her, and am excited to share her journey with you.
About Adreana Najera
Adreana came into the beauty industry to make an impact. Never feeling satisfied with past experiences has been a win for the beauty industry. “I chose cosmetology school because I love doing hair and makeup. I also chose cosmetology over the other programs because anytime I would go somewhere to get my haircuts or colors done, no one ever paid enough attention to the details of what I wanted and would try to rush to get to the next client. So, even way back then I decided to be the hairstylist I could never seem to find!” says Adreana.
“One of the reasons I chose Evergreen Beauty College was because they had the best reviews from graduated students. Which is key. If graduates were happy, I knew I’d be. I honestly didn’t know how amazing this school would be until I became a student myself. Wouldn’t have it any other way,” expresses Adreana.
The Evergreen Experience
We asked Adreana to share some areas that have been helpful to her, as well as areas of strengths since starting her cosmetology program with us:
“So far I don’t think I have anything specific that would be a favorite about this program. Some days I love one thing more than the other while the next it will be something completely different. Overall, I would conclude that I really love it all at this point!” shares Adreana.
“The most helpful assignment that I’ve had during my program so far would have to be the bingo sheets we get every month! It keeps me on task and keeps me motivated to do as many things as I can during the day. The bingo sheets also help me get as many credits in as I can for the month. I love being able to see the drastic change in credits that I still need to complete before I graduate!” said Adreana. Keeping the students motivated and perfecting their trade skills is the purpose behind Evergreen’s bingo sheets so we were glad to hear Adreana has used this assignment to get ahead on credits. Keep it up Adreana!
“I would say my strengths are cutting hair, whether its men’s or women’s cuts doesn’t matter, it’s just something I got the hang of right away. A goal of mine? I would LOVE to specialize in color and eventually have that be a strong strength that I can have to offer,” says Adreana.
“I know every stylist has that one thing that may set them apart from the next, as for me? I’m patient and passionate about everything I do whether it’s a 1/2″ trim or a complete color makeover. I can say that any clients that come see me will be given the best service I could possibly provide! I also try my best to pay attention to the details of what they are asking for, so they can be pleased with the outcome and feel their very best,” Adreana adds.
Even though Ms. Adreana still has a few months before she completes her program with us, she has left us words of advice for those that will follow in the halls of Evergreen, “We’re all family here in this industry! I’ve learned that not everyone gets the love and support you need at home so being there for one another is essential! Congratulate each other when they do good on assignments or services! Bring uplifting vibes to one another because we all have those bad days where we don’t want to be here anymore or just feel like quitting. To hear from a peer you’re doing well and are noticed can sometimes be everything they may need to hear to keep them going! So be loving and be nice because one day you may need it too.”
The Next Step
With her time wrapping up in school, Adreana prepares for the future and shares her next steps, “My goals are to work in a barber shop after school, so I can master amazing men’s cuts and to be quick at doing them. I’d also love to work in a high traffic salon, so I can work on my speed and get lots of practice on a variety of clients.”
Ms. Adreana graduates this next January 2019 and what better way to support her other than to stop in and see her at our Yakima campus for a hair transformation!
