Cosmetology Student Success Story: Nathan Barrientes
Our Everett campus awarded Mr. Nathan Barrientes this past month for work well done. If you have not had a chance to see Nathan in action as he braids or styles, then your absolutely missing out!
Nathan is always busy with clients and perfecting his skills and it shows with the work he produces.
About Nathan Barrientes
Nathan is like many others, having that passion for hair ever since they can remember. “One of the reason I chose beauty school was because I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HAIR!! I can even recall my first memory of me doing someone else’s hair, and it was on my papa George. My papa George would always let me braid and play with his hair growing up. Even throughout middle school all my friends would ask me to braid there hair because braiding was my thing.
In high school I took cheer and I mostly cheered for our girls wrestling team. With that being said, I was braiding ALL THE TIME! I’d even have a line of girls waiting for their turn to get there hair braided, lol. So needless to say working with hair is something I really enjoy doing, and it’s a career I am really looking forward to achieving,” offers Nathan.
We asked Nathan why he chose Evergreen Beauty College to start his journey, and he replied, “I decided on Evergreen because the people, staff and students here are very welcoming and very nice. Which is an important factor in determining a place I knew I’d be attending for the next year. Also the location is very convenient for me as it wasn’t too far away.”
The Evergreen Experience
Since starting the cosmetology program with us Mr. Nathan has shared some of his highlights of what he has enjoyed, what has helped him so far and what sets him apart from other cosmetologist:
“Although I have learned tons of different things since starting my cosmetology program, I’d have to say I enjoy braiding hair, blowouts, and color the most! It allows me to be creative. A creative that ends in a beautiful style with happy clients,” began Nathan.
“So far my strengths within my program are my blowouts and my chemical services. On the other hand, our monthly bingo sheets have been one of the assignments that have been a great help to me in school so far. It pushes me past my comfort zone and helps me achieve new skills that I am required to learn in order to complete that worksheet.”
“I work hard to achieve the best outcome for my clients and I believe its a key aspect about me that sets me apart. Truly, I enjoy the time spent to make my client feel and look beautiful. Great customer service in general helps me ensure great results for my clients as well. I can promise silky and shiny hair after any service and who doesn’t want to leave like that?” states Nathan.
The Next Step
We asked Nathan to share what his plans are once he graduates this coming fall, he states: “After I graduate I would like to work at a salon in the Bellevue area. As of right now I have my eyes on the Obadiah Salon at the Bellevue square. I like the atmosphere they have there along with their great location which would help to build my clientele.”
” As a future professional in the industry I offer this advice, love your profession and study it! Practice trying out your skills, even outside of school!! Never stop learning your craft because you will only be a great as you want to be,” shares Nathan as he heads into the last half of his program here at EBC.
