Diary of a Nail Tech Student – Part 2
(Independence Day Inspiration)
Today I challenged my nail tech classmates to do some nail art that was themed for this up coming weekend’s festivities for the 4th of July. I always love to see all of the different styles and ideas everyone comes up with. Some of us did very traditional images of what Independence day means to us but there were some like Rebecca Thompson and I that took actual pieces of history and can be recognized by anyone as American history.
I made some serious dagger nails I formed from acrylic on dowels then hand painted with acrylic paint the image of Uncle Same- “ I WANT YOU for US Army”. The history of Uncle Sam is rich in American history dating back to 1775 but most recognized for its J.M. Flagg’ s 1917 poster, which was used to recruit soldiers for both World War I and World War II. I really enjoyed painting this untraditional nail art and I love to see how classmates react to this wacky set of nails.
Rebecca polished & painted her version of one of the most famous photos in American history, Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima. The original photo was taken on February 23rd, 1945, by Joe Rosenthal and later became the only photo to win the Pulitzer Prize for Photography. Rebecca’s version also depicts a ship battle going on in the background with canons firing around. Great job Rebecca!
Bravo to everyone that participated and stayed tuned for much more!
This is a great post! Super creative use of historical motifs for your nail art. Would love to hear from you on collaborating with SNS Nails, we have some great stuff for nail art 🙂
