Esthetics Student Success Story: Carolyn Manzano
About Carolyn Manzano
We all at some point in our lives find ourselves at a crossroads, just like Ms. Carolyn Manzano, an Esthetic student from our Everett location had prior to making a change this last year. “Before enrolling in school, I was working at a medical clinic while taking classes related to the medical field. After a few years, I decided to make a career change and switch to the beauty side of things. I have always had a passion for all things beauty, including makeup, skincare and eyelash extensions so making the switch into Esthetics was very exciting for me. Just knowing that I would finally be in a field where I could do what I love, and still help others feel beautiful is an amazing feeling,” Carolyn shares.
It can be scary changing directions, but if you have the right foundation, it makes that transition a little easier. So when it came time to look for that ‘foundation’, Ms. Carolyn shares her reasons for choosing EBC, “Evergreen Beauty College was recommended to me by other lash artists as well as they offered an Esthetics program that had an eyelash course built into it. Lastly, I chose this school because they offer the evening program, which allows me to continue working while attending school.”
The Evergreen Experience
Our Everett campus was able to recognize Ms. Carolyn for the successful habits she’s creating during her time at Evergreen. Not only is she connecting with clients and building meaningful relationships, Carolyn also showcases her talent and is making a difference in her clients lives.
Since starting the Esthetics program with us Ms. Carolyn has shared some of her highlights of what she has enjoyed, what has helped her so far and what sets her apart from other estheticians:
“I originally joined the Esthetics program wanting to focus mainly on eyelash extensions, but as we have learned more about facials I have fell in love with them as well. I still love applying lash extensions though, and am always learning more tips from other lash artists. Whether it’s about technique or products, I’m eager for it all! Seeing how happy clients are with my work is extremely gratifying. It’s crazy what a difference lashes can make on an individual.”
“So far I feel like the most helpful “assignments” in school have been the hands-on practice. From the very first day of class, we have been able to get very hands-on with our services. We’re taught a technique, and then can turn right around to practice it, which has helped me to get more comfortable in those services I wouldn’t normally have a clue in doing, such as waxing.”
“As far as my greatest strength in this industry so far it would be the fact that I love what I get to do, whether that be facials or eyelash extensions. I believe that my love for this work really translates to the clients as they can see the passion behind my work which helps build trust. Not only do they trust my recommendations but they know that I have their best interest in mind. When clients trust you they are able to relax and enjoy their experience. Having that passion and work ethic sets me apart as well, and will only aid in my success in my career. Learning how to do a facial or applying eyelash extensions is something that most people are able to do, but I have gone beyond to learn different products and techniques that will make my work stand out from everyone else’s. I truly love the work that I do and I believe that my clients are all able to notice that when they book with me. Every client will get knowledge about the products that I am using so we’re able to create the best plan for them moving forward in treatment. Once we have decided together what we will be doing that day, they can expect a very safe, comfortable environment and relaxing experience so they can de-stress,” expresses Carolyn.
The Next Step
Not too long before she graduates, Ms. Carolyn is already creating a vision for what her future holds. “My plans for after graduation are mainly to find a spa or salon near or in Mill Creek that focus on eyelash extensions and/or facials. I have truly found my passion in both services and would love the opportunity to continue providing these services in order to continue learning and growing as an esthetician,” exclaims Carolyn.
Ms. Carolyn Manzano is set to graduate this April, 2020. And if you are interested in continuing to follow Carolyn throughout the rest of her Esthetics program and into her career, you can check her out on Instagram: @beautyxcarolyn . Congrats Ms. Carolyn!
