Hair Design Student Success Story: Kristen Rodrigues

Ms. Kristen Rodrigues excitedly accepted an award this past month from our Renton campus as she was recognized for her social media outreach. Connecting with clients and sharing her business is what Kristen is all about and now I get to share that story with you!

About Kristen Rodrigues

Like many others looking into the beauty industry, Kristen has always found hair fascinating. “Since I was a little girl my mom has always reminded me how much I’ve always like doing my own hair. Coming from a really small town where perms and buzz cuts were the majority of the clientele. Then I moved to Seattle and saw hair design in it’s truest art form. Since I’ve moved to Seattle I’ve been a waitress and bartender, but I was ready to live in my hobbies and achieve my dreams,” expressed Kristen.

“When it came time to look into schools to attend, I looked for a school that  seemed relatable and convenient for my current life which is why I toured Evergreen Beauty College. Little did I know that they’d have an amazing business program to help me build my business, and incredible teachers to help me create my knowledge!” Kristen adds.

The Evergreen Experience

Since starting the Hair Design program with us Ms. Kristen has shared some of her highlights of what she has enjoyed, what has helped her so far and what sets her apart from other Hair Designers:

“I love the crazy transformations I can recreate in this program. The wild colors and the intense cuts, but also seeing the bride’s face as she looks in the mirror for the first time and realizing how beautiful she looks. It fills my entire heart!!”

“Although reading about different techniques in a book is sometimes helpful… I’m the person that learns best by just jumping in and being hands-on with an actual client, getting that real world experience is key for me!”

“What are my strengths? I don’t think I have figured out whether I like cutting or coloring better… but I do know that I LOVE styling. I love creating masterpieces. I think we naturally find our strengths in the services we have more passion for.”

“I can tell you that I’m not just another Hair Designer, I am creative. I’m ready for all the challenges a client can throw at me. I’m eager and want to learn something new every day which will help me offer the best for my clients. On the other side, I am also very personable and I love chatting and getting to know you. I whole heartedly love meeting new people, hearing all about their lives and finding new ways to connect. I want to be my clients hair soulmate! Whether that be with feeding their hair with the right products. Helping them with the right creativity for their personality. Or just being that shoulder to lean on when it’s needed. I can guarantee my clients an amazing, one of a kind service!” Kristen shares.

The Next Step

What’s next on the agenda for Kristen you may ask? “Essentially I would love to have my own mini salon. Maybe two or three chairs so I can keep a more intimate environment within the salon. Although high-end salons can be big and beautiful… I want to be able to offer relatable services to all people and not intimidate potential clientele. So in that mean time, I plan to help build my clientele and technique by starting off joining a local salon after graduating. It will also give me time to build my dreams and to thoroughly think my plans through,” explains Kristen.

“Heading into the halfway mark of my program, I offer words of advice to those looking to follow their passion, and that is to waste the least possible time you have in school as you can. Always try to keep your hands busy. Learn as much as you can, and pick your teachers brain for all their amazing knowledge because there will come a time you will wish you had,” offers Kristen.

Ms. Kristen Rodrigues is set to graduate this coming November 2019 and what better way to support her other than to stop by our Renton campus for a hair masterpiece of your own!
