Standard requirements for enrolling in beauty schools
Here is a list of the basic prerequisites for enrolling in beauty school and applying for financial aid.
Age
Students 18 and older are eligible to apply. In many circumstances, we admit students who are 16 and older. At Evergreen Beauty College, we believe that no one is too old to reinvent their careers. There is empowerment and joy in pursuing learning at any age and we welcome all.
Application
We encourage all future students to submit an online application. One of the admissions team members will contact you and may require applicants to submit additional documents.
Assessment tests
Students must have a high school diploma or a GED to enroll since Evergreen Beauty College is a post-secondary institution. Assessment tests usually consist of testing computer skills. Students must have basic computer skills to keep up with the demands of coursework as they will be completing course material online. Evergreen Beauty College does not have a formative assessment test during enrollment.
Our educational approach includes various assessments and evaluations in each phase of the program.

Evergreen Beauty College’s financial aid office is committed to helping students navigate the financial aid process. We offer resources like federal student loans to support their cosmetology program education.
As a beauty school fostering growth and support, Evergreen ensures everyone understands their loan options, helping them manage potential student loan debt. The college also guides prospective students on utilizing a college savings plan to ease financial burdens, like the 529 Fund.
Through our unwavering commitment and personalized support, Evergreen’s financial aid programs ensure that education is within reach, regardless of a student’s financial situation.
Our financial aid office offers different programs tailored to each student’s needs that can assist with education expenses. We’ll help you advocate for your future career.

Standard licensing requirements to work in a salon
At Evergreen Beauty College, the licensing requirements demonstrate to employees and the state that you intend to work and that you are prepared to enter the beauty industry with confidence and competence.
The journey begins with meeting the education requirements, where students immerse themselves in theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice.
Throughout each phase of the program, formative assessments play a crucial role. They provide students with the opportunity to refine their skills, ensuring they are fully prepared for the licensing exam and ready to demonstrate their competence in the beauty industry.
Evergreen Beauty College equips its students with everything they need to succeed and feel prepared for the practical exam.
Full-time cosmetology students can expect to meet five times per week and successfully complete 1,600 hours of training in their cosmetology course.

Cherokye, I think the best college to attend is the one that is the best fit for you. Alwande, it depends on the state and the school. For example, in Washington State you may enroll but not be licensed until you are 17 years old. However, some schools require that students have a HS Diploma or GED. Other schools may have agreements with local school districts or Skills Centers to assist current HS Juniors to attend.
What if u have a higher education certificate and u wanna study cosmetology is it possible to do it
Melody, I would encourage you to reach out to your state governing agency. The state laws are all very unique. Example: If your higher education degree was in ‘Education’, such as permitting to teach, it could be recognized as an equivalency for an instructor license in specific states, such as Washington.

I am young and wish to go to a cosmetology school, but I was wondering if we need a good PSAT score to enter because most schools now don’t require it.
Hello Milah, I am so excited to hear that you want to pursue a career in Cosmetology. Requirements are typically set by the schools (and sometimes the state). In terms of PSAT scores, you will want to check with the specific school in your area. However to my knowledge, I am not aware of ANY beauty schools that require PSAT scores. I have seen other assessments, but not PSAT.
