AN ILLUSTRATED HISTORY OF BEAUTY
Beauty standards change with whatever is going on in the world. Politics, cinema and music are often the links to what we find visually beautiful. When it comes to beauty, life imitates art. If we look back to the 1950s, we’ll see that the style for women was an all-dolled-up, old-Hollywood aesthetic with no feminine flourish to spare. By contrast, the 1960s had a politically charged environment, which transformed the trends vastly, ranging from a natural beauty with long hair to a styled aesthetic with darkly lined eyes and short pixie cuts.
SEATTLE GRUNGE MUSIC SCENE
During the mid-1980s to the mid-90s, the Seattle grunge music scene significantly influenced a wave of fashion, hairstyles and makeup trends in the beauty industry, originating in Seattle and spreading globally. Evergreen Beauty College takes pride in their competitions and events, stay tuned.
INDIVIDUALITY IN BEAUTY
These days, women are embracing their individuality in beauty. Healthy-looking skin and hair, luscious lashes, full eyebrows and soft lips are prevalent in the beauty industry. However, more and more women aren’t aspiring to look a certain way where everyone looks similar. All facial features, body types, skin tones and hair textures are considered beautiful. We live in a time where we’re campaigning to embrace our true selves—growing out gray hair has become fashionable. Women of all ages opt for more splashy colored hair, like blue, teal and pink hues.
HISTORY OF BEAUTY
Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. At Evergreen Beauty College, it’s essential to know the history of beauty, the trends over time, and how they have influenced today’s beauty standards. Beauty has been globalizing over centuries. The best artists have a strong sense of history and understand how to achieve these looks. Once our students master the fundamentals and gain a robust historical beauty vocabulary, they are free to create and add to the trends.
ENHANCE NATURAL BEAUTY
In the last two decades, a lasting trend is a healthy look at any age. Thanks to modern technology in esthetics, women can maintain the lustrous look of skin, have fuller brows and wake up with longer lashes, cutting their beauty routine in half. The most important thing at Evergreen Beauty College is to safely provide and teach esthetic and cosmetology services to people and help enhance our clients’ natural beauty.
