Some women are born with beautiful hair that requires little to no maintenance and have little need of hair styling ideas for long hair.  The vast majority, on the other hand, need to do a bit of maintenance before they are ok to go out and have the world take in their do.

Hair Styling Ideas for Long Hair

If you want a change with your hair, here are five looks that never go out of style:

Long Hair, Swept To One Side

Pulling strands to one side of your head (whichever you have a preference for) creates an image of gravity and purpose.  You can use your own natural texture products as you prefer, or spray saline solution into your hair and then scrunch starting at the roots and going to the tips.  This creates a wavy look, so that you sweep your strands away and leave your face unblocked.

Slicked Straight Back

The look of slick hair may be more in vogue for men — especially those trying to look retro — but it works just as well for women.  Iron flat your hair so that it is as straight as you are able to get it, then take a small bit of gel and rub straight back.  This should have enough staying power to stay back and in place, but you can spray it down if needed.

Braid Away

There is no quick or easy way to get braids, unfortunately, but if you have a few extra minutes in your day you can get a great look with braided long hair.  Start on either side of your head with a deep part in the side, separating hair into two strands.  Braid one strand on the back of your head to the neck and braid the right along your hairline.

Curl With Color

Curls on their own are beautiful with long hair, but they look all the better when there are tints or highlights that break up the flow.  If you want a subtle color, like chocolate or brick orange, use sparingly, but if you want full neon tint, don’t hold back.

Waves And Straights

If you want to contrast a wavy look, use shorter, straight bangs.  This frames your complexion with long hair both at the sides and in the front without getting too many strands in your face.  Longer hairstyles are great for the combination of wavy and straight since it tends to create wisps that create a contrast of light and texture.
