Evergreen Beauty College is home to all kinds of cosmetology students, each with their own personalities and styles. Every student has different passions, quirks, and dreams that they pursue. Despite their differences, the students all share common personality traits that exemplify what it means to Be Evergreen. Here are just a few of the qualities that we see in our students that inspires us every day:

Honesty

One of the hardest things for a cosmetologist to do is to tell a client “no.” Beauty school is an opportunity for cosmetologists to learn many things that they can use in their careers, but beauty changes constantly. Stylists, estheticians, and nail technicians can get requests from their clients that they don’t know how to do, so they’re forced to make a choice: “wing it” and try to give the client the service they are asking for, or decline and refer them to another professional who knows how to give the client what they’re asking for.

Some cosmetologists feel like they can improvise and give the client what they’re asking for, but it doesn’t always work out for them. If they give the client an unsatisfactory experience, they might lose their business for good. At Evergreen, we teach the mandatory curriculum, as well as offer specialty courses for new trends and styles. That being said, as styles change even more frequently than the seasons, there will be things that every cosmetologist has to learn outside of their school days. An Evergreen cosmetologist will refer their client to a professional who can provide the service the client is asking for if for some reason they can’t or are uncomfortable providing the service. This sort of honest behavior earns trust from clients, and while the cosmetologist might lose business for a day, they earn loyalty that can continue to bring them business for years to come.

Service

Good cosmetology schools teach that cosmetology isn’t just about cutting and coloring hair, it’s also about providing an incredible experience. Many people enjoy cosmetology because they get to be a “thera-stylist” for their guests, listening to their problems and making their day better. The difference between the good cosmetologists and the Evergreen cosmetologists is that the Evergreen cosmetologist will focus on the individual and strive to provide them the best service possible.

Providing excellent cosmetology services shouldn’t mean slaving over clients for a long time. Excellent service includes listening, being thorough, not cutting corners, and also not taking too much of the clients’ time. Some cosmetologists might have the attitude of “that’s good enough” when looking at their work, while the Evergreen cosmetologists have an attitude of “let me do this 100%” They go the extra mile to make sure that everything is right for the client.

Creativity

Creativity is a hallmark of a fantastic cosmetologist, and at Evergreen Beauty College we hold the same expectation of our students. In addition to that, we want our students to not only be creative, but to be creators as well. Creativity isn’t limited only to hair color, style, and looks, but our students have the opportunity to be creative throughout their careers.

We see incredible amounts of creativity from our students, and it’s not restricted to creativity explored behind the chair. We have graduates who have built their own businesses, created product lines, and opened their own salons. These graduates are Evergreen cosmetologists because they have a vision for what their creativity make, so they go out and create it for themselves!
