Beauty School Externships

When I was in beauty school, I wish I would have had the opportunity to study outside of school. To see a specific business and see how it is ran. To learn what to do or, maybe more importantly, what NOT to do. To understand that what you learn in school is only the beginning!

The Future Professionals at Evergreen Beauty College have a wonderful opportunity, with the right grades and attendance records, to do an externship. Students must meet a 90% attendance and 90% on their overall grades in order to qualify for the externship, which means even more incentive to stay focused on their education! Not only do they get to earn school hours shadowing at a salon or spa, but where they do it at is completely up to them. Rather than restricting students’ options by having a list of specific salons and spas to choose from, part of the experience is finding a place to do the externship at. It only goes to show the dedication, responsibility and drive that Evergreen students embody.

A recent graduate of Evergreen, Abegaile Snodgrass, took it upon herself to do an externship at Vixen Day Spa and Boutique in Magnolia. When asked about her experience with the externship, Abegaile said, “I felt confident through Nuts and Bolts. I knew the business side. I knew what to look for in a good business, and also, I knew my basics…I was able to go in there and realize I have the tools to be successful.”

Perhaps the best part about doing an externship? The possibility of getting offered a job before you are even done with school or have your license! A number of Evergreen graduates have been offered jobs at the place they shadowed before they were done with school. With that being said, no wonder Evergreen Beauty College is one of the best schools in the country and was recently named School of the Year! Evergreen’s main focus for its students and graduates is that they are salon and spa ready by the time they graduate, and what better way to get your students ready for the working world than to get them out there in it while still in school!
