Cosmetology Student Success Story: Piper Paris

Our Mount Vernon campus was able to recognize a student in their Cosmetology program, Ms. Piper Paris, for exuding successful and professional habits in school. Having fun and bringing excitement to all she does, I cannot wait to share her story with you!

About Piper Paris

“I chose the Cosmetology program because I didn’t want to limit myself. Who knows what I’ll be best at. I wanted to learn hair, skin, and nails to the best of my ability so that I can offer services I know that will make people shine. There is something beautiful about pushing yourself to be uncomfortable in an area of study, because that means you’re growing. If you are too comfortable with what you are doing, then you will never grow! Before I was enrolled at EBC I went back and forth working as server, a barista, and a receptionist. I reason chose EBC when it came time to looking into school was because of the staff. The staff TAKES CARE OF YOU. From the second I filled out an “I’m interested in taking a tour” form online, I was contacted the next day. And from there it was the same quick response for every detail I needed. The EBC staff is on top of it.” shares Piper.

Since starting the Cosmetology program with us Ms. Piper has shared some of her highlights of what she has enjoyed, what has helped her so far and what sets her apart from other cosmetologist:

“What I like most about my program is color! My dream is to be a color specialist. It won’t be easy but I’m going to shoot for the stars and work hard to be great! I like color because it is a drastic change that is visible and the creativity behind it.”

“The assignments that I find to be the most helpful are the demonstrations. I am a visual learner and this has really helped me implement the skills we have read about. Those demonstrations help my brain put to practice the crazy amount of information learned in theory and somehow it makes it seem so much easy to comprehend.”

“I think what sets me apart from other stylists is that I try to live by a certain standard to treat others how I’d want to be treated. I want to care for people, I want to show kindness, I want people to feel loved, and I want people to feel heard and respected. I ALWAYS try my best to show love, trust, and respect. And hopefully my clients can learn about who I am and love my work, trust me in my skill, and respect me as a person! I can offer 100% effort in whatever I am doing. I was raised to give everything 110%. I can offer my clients a guarantee that I will not be lazy, and that I will go the extra mile. I  will take the time and wont skip steps in order to speed up the process. Being thorough from start to finish with my consultation until we check out is a given.” says Ms. Piper.

Although Ms. Piper is months from graduation she is already setting goals that will pave a pathway through the industry that will set her apart. “My career plans are to build up my clientele and work in a salon for a good amount of years. Once I have a good clientele, I dream of building a “tiny home” styled facility on my property and run a little business from my home!” Piper offered.

“If I could share some advise for incoming students it would be, keep your heads as clear as possible. Be open to learning difficult things. Absorb everything you can. Keeping a good attitude honestly is the biggest thing you can do. There will be days and days that seem like they will never get easier, and if your attitude is poor, it reflects on many other aspects of your life. Stay positive and work as hard as you can so that you can soar after you graduate!”

Ms. Piper Paris graduates next June, 2020. And if you are interested in continuing to follow Piper throughout her program, you can check her out on Instagram: @beautybypiperparis .
