Cosmetology Student Success Story: Zoe Ziegler

Our Everett campus is excited to award Ms. Zoe Ziegler this past month for making her brand known. Going above and beyond for her clients as she demonstrates the mission she is on for this industry; true beauty ignited by confidence. I get the privilege to share her story with you and how Zoe is preparing to make her impact.

 About Zoe Ziegler

“One of the reasons I chose cosmetology school was because I enjoy helping others feel confident. In fact, I crafted my entire brand, Confidence by Zoë, around the concept of no matter what service you are having done, whether it’s a subtle trim, or a dramatic new color, that my clients will leave my chair feeling their most confident selves. In high school, I started Confidence by Zoë. Starting with school dances, proms, and small parties, I used my talents to get young girls ready for the best nights of their lives. These small dances I would do hair and makeup for, turned in to large weddings and being on set of photo shoots. So, as I gained all this experience I thought, “why not do this for a living?” And that’s exactly what I plan to do. When it came time to look into schools, I took the advice of a stylist who is highly respected in the industry as they had recommended Evergreen Beauty College,” shares Zoe.

The Evergreen Experience

Since starting the cosmetology program with us Ms. Zoe has shared some of her highlights of what she has enjoyed, what has helped her so far and what sets her apart from other cosmetologist:

“I find that hands on assignments have always been the most helpful to me since starting my cosmetology program. Our field is so practical and hands on, that with out that type of training, there would be no solid foundation of learning. I’ve enjoyed most in my program: hair color and doing eyelash extension (an elective class I added on to my program). They both require the hands on and creative outlook that I’ve enjoyed.”

“As for my strengths, I’d have to say that being able to connect and talk to people which makes them feel relaxed would be one of them. A lot of people come in to the salon with heavy burdens on their hearts and just need someone to vent to. As a stylist, I definitely feel called not just to do hair, but to be there for the clients that may need an ear to listen the most. It’s more than the skills and service I can offer, it’s the communication and relationships that go hand in hand to the confidence they will feel when they leave the salon.”

“Something that sets me apart from other stylist is my level of maturity and having the ability to see the bigger picture in any situation. Being in a salon, typically (but not always) filled with women, cattiness and negativity can spread and get the best of you if you let it. I keep my eyes on the end result and focus positivity on my clients. As a very matured women, even for my young age, I feel as though I’m relatable to others no matter the age, and therefore can be that guidance one may need,” shared Zoe.

Even though our industry is big, we coach every future professional to find that one thing they can offer to their clients that will help in the relationships they build, Zoe is no different. “Firstly, I can offer my clients a safe zone. I am not here to judge you on what shampoo you use, the box dye you put in your hair a few weeks ago, or the last time you washed your hair. We all come from different demographic, different lifestyles, we’re all just different. So when you come in to my chair, I respect you for who you are, as I want to give you the best results with the honesty you are giving me. Secondly, I will offer you my best work every time. You will never have to worry about inconsistencies, change when it is not needed, or never offering change for that matter. I will always listen, and turn my clients desires in to beautiful hair,” states Zoe.

The Next Step

With her big picture in mind, Zoe shares what next for her after school, “After I graduate, I hope to work in a commission based high end salon for at least a year as I gain clientele. Then, my end goal is to eventually own a salon of my own in the heart of Bellevue, as it is my favorite city. Giving my best work to people so that they can feel their best and gain the confidence they deserve.”

“Although I still have a little time left in school, I’d like to share some advice to the future professionals that will follow their dreams and enroll like I had, my advice would be to practice like you play. The habits you make on school, good or bad, will follow you into the real world. If you make an effort to do the tiniest things like offer your client water without them asking, giving them a great shampoo every time they come in, and always being a listening ear, you will make yourself so valuable and highly respected,” shares Zoe.
