Digital Marketing Award: Aimee Peterson

Sometimes in life, people are lucky enough to be given second chances. When those types of things happen, you usually do everything you can to take advantage of them and make the second time around so much more amazing than you would have ever imagined. For, Aimee Peterson, our Digital Marketing Award winner for the month of June from our Everett Campus, she had the opportunity for a second chance and she grabbed it and ran with it. I was so excited to hear her story, learn about her experiences here at Evergreen and discover what her plans were for her future in the Cosmetology industry.

About Aimee

From the time Aimee was a little girl, she knew she had a passion for hair. In fact, the only reason she played with Barbies was so she could do their hair. Unlike most little girls, who love Barbies for their outfits, shoes and incredible accessories, but not Aimee. For her, it was all about the hair. In fact, when her friends needed their hair done, Aimee was the go-to person, especially for special occasion hair.

Before she dove into her time at Evergreen, she was mainly working in retail and clerical work. She never liked it and wanted to do something she was passionate about and hair was the one thing she had always been passionate about. From there, she decided that beauty school was the next step she needed in her life. Before Cosmetology school, she was starting her recovery in sobriety and trying to figure out what she wanted to do with her life. She said, “I felt like I had been given a second chance at life when I got sober and I wanted to do it right.” That is such an admirable thing. We are so happy for her and to have gotten to know her over her time here with us at Evergreen!

The Evergreen Experience

Over the years we at Evergreen have heard so many different reasons as to why the Future Professionals chose our school over all of the other schools in the area. We always love hearing the reasons and it was no different with Aimee. When asked she had this to say, “As soon as I walked in the door, I got a family-friendly vibe. I love all that they have to offer and how they teach you the business side too. You don’t just learn about hair, but how the business is run and how important it is to know the business side of the industry. I also love that they work with you and try to find a job and don’t just push you out of the door once you are done and graduate.” We always want the best for our Future Professionals and always want to see them succeed. By teaching them not only about their passion of hair or skin, but about the business as a whole and how important it is, we hope to create a very well-rounded and knowledgeable individual.

While in school, everyone discovers their strengths and weaknesses. For some, they would prefer to be known for their incredible styles and cutting techniques. For others, they prefer coloring hair. Every once in a while, some will discover that they love both cutting and color. For Aimee, she discovered that her strength is color, foiling specifically. While discovering her love for color, she also discovered that every guest leaves her chair smiling. That is such a wonderful thing! In this industry, you can make somebody’s day with an amazing cut or color, a big smile and good conversation. That is definitely what Aimee is doing with all of her guests!

The Next Step

Aimee has got a few more months with us at Evergreen and is going to graduate next January. We were intrigued to find out what her plans were after she graduated. “I would like to work in a salon specializing in color for a few years and gain experience. After that, I would love to start looking into opening my own salon! That is my real dream.” Her passion is what sets her apart form other stylists. Whether it be a full foil, a root touch up or just a quick trim, she is extremely passionate about everything she does! “I do and always give it my all, 100%. I will go that extra mile just to make sure my client is happy.” With that attitude and that desire to please her clients, we have no doubt that she will do an outstanding job as a salon owner and operator!

We always love to hear what little nuggets of wisdom our current Future Professionals have for our incoming FP’s. When asked what Aimee had to say, she said “I would tell them to always listen carefully and never be afraid to ask questions. Take LOTS of notes. Also, practice as much as you can in their free time.” That is some wonderful advice and definitely a recipe for success!

If you would like to book with Aimee before she graduates, you can find her at our Everett campus.
