Cosmetology Student Success Story: Courtni Easton

Sometimes in life, people grow up knowing that they want to become a cop when they grow up, or maybe a chef, or a writer. For the winner of the Digital Marketing Award, Courtni Easton, at our Renton Campus for the month of July, she always knew she wanted to be in the beauty industry.

She not only loves the hair industry, but the make-up industry as well. She is set to graduate from our Cosmetology Program at the end of August, but she is also a recent graduate from our Make-up Artistry Course! I was so excited to learn her story and hear about her journey through beauty college.

About Courtni

When asked why Courtni chose the beauty industry this is what she had to say, “I’ve been interested in hair and make up my whole life. I’m a girly girl, so I like to make others feel beautiful.” That is one of the best things about the beauty industry, making people feel beautiful and giving them that little boost of confidence. As soon as she was done with High School, she knew that her next step was Beauty College. Courtni’s books are consistently filled with request guests, mostly requesting color, cuts and balayage. Balayage is definitely Courtni’s favorite service to provide to her guests. If make-up is also a service she is performing, she knocks it out of the park. She loves making transformations on people.

The Evergreen Experience

With so many different beauty colleges out there, we always love to hear why our Future Professionals choose Evergreen Beauty College for their education. Besides the friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere, Courtni loved the fact that we are not only focused on the beauty industry and our students careers, but we are also very business-based. The “Nuts and Bolts” program that we use is very beneficial to our students and helps them in the long run in their careers. Courtni said, “I chose Evergreen Beauty College because it is a business school that really helps me prepare for the real world.” That is very true, Courtni! One of our main goals is to have our Future Professionals become very, very successful in their career of choice! It’s one of the best feelings when they love what they do and all of their hard work has paid off.

During her program at Evergreen, she has experienced a variety of different assignments, lessons and experiences.

As mentioned before she loves color, however her favorite assignments that she has been given while in school involve preparing for State Boards. “The assignments that have helped me the most while in school have been taking home state board practice tests to study so I can become more prepared to pass my State Boards.” Our students take their testing and board preparation very seriously. If there is extra time they can dedicate to get ready for graduation and State Boards, they take full advantage of it.

The Next Step

As Courtni prepares to take her next steps in her Cosmetology career, I was curious to find out what her plans for her future were after graduation. For the past few weeks, she has been externing at SEVEN Salon and has been offered a position once she becomes a licensed Cosmetologist! We are so excited to watch her grow as a stylist! I wanted to know what exactly sets her apart from other stylists and she said, “My drive and passion for the industry. I was born to do what I do! I’m a good listener, I’m professional, I give clients what they ask for and I always recommend products and new styles. Plus, I’ve got a rockin’ personality!”  With that attitude and desire to appease clients, I have no doubt Courtni will do big things and go very far in her career!

As always, we are curious to see if our Future Professionals that are close to graduation have any advice for the incoming students. Here is what Courtni had to say, “It’s a lot of work, you have to have the want. Come in with an open mind. It gets hard and you will want to cry, but it’s okay, it is all worth it in the end.” That is wonderful advice. If that advice is followed and taken seriously, there is no doubt that the incoming students will achieve greatness while at Evergreen.

If you want to see Courtni’s work or watch her grow as a stylist, you can find her on Instagram at _beautybycourtni. If you would like to schedule an appointment with her before she graduates, you can call our Renton Campus and get on her schedule!

Also, if you are interested in pursuing a career in the beauty industry, you can check out our program or contact us at one of our three locations: Yakima, Everett or Renton!
