About Evelyn
“I’ve been debating cosmetology for years.I have two kids at home and finally decided it was time to set an example for them and do what I loved.”
Evelyn is a great example of students who have unique schedules and needs. Our cosmetology program is a perfect fit for people like Evelyn.
Evelyn said her favorite part of cosmetology is the rewarding feeling you get when clients are happy after their service.
“I love sending clients out the door feeling excited about what we did. From just touching up their current look or a total transformation. To see that smile on their face, is a great reward. It can’t get any better then improving someone’s self confidence!”
She said while she loves learning all of the skills we teach her, she does have a favorite.
“I’m finding my strength and passion coming out in my color services. Color correction has become something I absolutely love! I’ve had the pleasure of simple corrections like fixing someone’s shade of blonde, to removing red and black box color and creating a look they loved on the more natural side. To start with one look and end with an absolutely different is so much fun.”
The Evergreen Experience
“I toured Evergreen probably two or three times before I finally decided it was the place for me.”
We believe in finding the right school for the right student. Education is a huge investment in your future. We love when potential students come tour our campuses and talk to our staff. It allows us to get to know our students and create a great working and learning environment.

“They are my priority. I strive to listen and create what is in their best interest. So many stylists are all about what’s best for their pocket books and not what’s best for their client.
”
She loves her clients and the work she does for them.
“I’m always laughing and smiling with my clients, even the frustrating ones. I do my best to have a happy-go-lucky attitude with them all. You never know what someone is going through. You never know what bad news they got on the way to the salon, or what horrid things they have to deal with after they leave you. I want every client walk out feeling as if not only did they get a quality service but they got to relax and forget about the negative for just a little bit of time. I greet everyone with a huge hello and a big smile, and address everyone with Ms. or Mr. It’s amazing to see what even just that little bit of respect does for people.”
The Next Step
“I’m hoping to find a salon and start building my clientele. Start out slow and keep learning.”
Learning and growing long after you are a professional is the best way to make sure you are performing the latest and trendiest services for your clients. Evelyn has the right idea when she told us that learning is a priority.
Evelyn graduates in November of 2016, so as a student with some Evergreen experience under her belt, we asked her to share advice with new students.
“Don’t give up. It gets hard, it gets stressful, it gets overwhelming, but it gets easier as you go. I came into school as someone who was always good at things I tried, and school challenged me. Good news is, it gets easier and you learn from your mistakes. Just hang in there and conquer it.”
