Digital Marketing Award: Taylor Barr

Taylor_Barr_HeaderAt Evergreen Beauty College we help lifelong dreamers achieve their career goals and have fun doing it!

We love to see our students become online sensations, and this month we want to recognize a student who is the definition of Evergreen success.

About Taylor

“I learned how to braid at a very young age and knew that creating artwork through styling, cutting, and coloring hair would be something that I could picture myself loving forever.” Taylor said.

Her career didn’t start right away, though. Taylor said she started down the path toward a Bachelor’s degree but soon realized that she needed to pursue her passion: cosmetology. After getting her A.A. at Bellevue College, she started on her lifelong dream.

Taylor said, “The moment I fell in love with color was when I was practicing color on a girlfriend, I did a full foil and she loved it and we were both so proud of it!” From there, her hair career took a leaping start.

The Evergreen Experience

Taylor shared her thoughts with those who are considering the field.

“Welcome to the beginning of one of the best career choices out there. Cosmetology is one of the best careers because it gives you the ability to express your artistic and creative side and one of the best parts is that you get to talk to people! Be prepared for a hard but amazingly fun journey!” she said.

Taylor mentioned her most recent and most helpful project so far.

“The last haircut project we were assigned has probably been the most helpful during my program thus far because we were given the opportunity to recreate a favorite haircut of our choice on our mannequin, which is a triangle cut with blunt bangs. I really had to think outside of the box and become more creative than usual, and not having a client gave me the creative freedom to go in any direction for the end result look.”

Not only do you learn the very best skills at Evergreen, but Taylor wanted to share some of the people skills and important experiences with clients that she has gained. Women's-Curl-By-Taylor

“One of my regulars doesn’t have the best home life, but remains positive and always thanks me at the end of the appointment, and even brings me flowers sometimes because she can talk to me about things that she feels she can’t share with others in her personal life. I’m really like a personal therapist!”

She says that her client’s needs and feelings are of the utmost important to her. And we think that makes her a cosmetologist bound for success.

The Next Step

Taylor has some big plans for the future of her cosmetology career. Taylor shared, “Ideally, I would love to open my own salon. However, right after graduation I plan on apprenticing at a local, boutique salon for the first few months out of school; and hopefully start my career as a stylist sometime next year!”

Taylor believes her success rides on her ability to communicate with client’s well and help them reach their hair goals.

“I am a people’s person, and I care, a lot. I am sensitive to the needs of my clients and I always make sure that we are both on the same page. Consultations are key in this industry, and I plan to continue to have successful consultations, leading to successful end results. “

So where can you find Taylor’s work?
“I worked hard at building my social media platform to display my work to the world!”

You can find photos and videos on her Facebook hair page, as well as on her Instagram: @hairbytbarr
