Esthetics Student Success Story: Maya Arhu

Maya is set to graduate within the next few weeks so we are so excited to feature her story here before she is done at Evergreen. Take a look at what Maya has accomplished during her time at Evergreen and what her advice is for any incoming students!

About Maya

Maya, like many who get into Esthetics, has a strong passion for make-up. If you think about it, Esthetics and make-up really go hand-in-hand together. Many make-up lines carry skincare within their line and as a make-up artist, skin is the canvas for your artwork! Maya said, “I chose Esthetics school because I knew I had passion a for make-up, but I wanted to have a certification to be able to do more services. I wanted to help people wake up feeling beautiful.

I researched a little about what you can do with an Esthetics degree. I learned about lashes and never looked back.” She got into it for the make-up and realized she has a real talent for lashes! “My specialty is definitely eyelash extensions. I think it’s my specialty because it is what will drive me in the industry when I graduate.” I think I speak for everyone at Evergreen when I say, I cannot wait to see you and your future business thrive in the years to come, Maya!

The Evergreen Experience

Coming from an admissions standpoint, it is always so rewarding hearing that a current student has loved her experience from the moment she walked in the door 🙂 No matter what department we work in at Evergreen, that is what we strive for and why we love our jobs! For Maya, “I chose to attend Evergreen because of the way I was greeted when I walked in the door. I knew that Evergreen was going to embrace me and they did! I feel the love when I walk into the door every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.” And specifically what she likes about the program, “I love the versatility. If you come to school for specific things, the instructors make sure you learn the most about what your passionate [about]. I also love the fact that I have such amazing classmates that push me like Rataya, Kareny and the rest of the “Estho Shawtys” in my class.”

So happy to hear you and your classmates have been having such a fun time and enjoying your time taking the Esthetics!

Evergreen has always been about growth and making sure we are not complacent as a company. Part of growing includes getting feedback from our students, as far as what worked and didn’t work for them individually. So, we were curious to know what assignments have been helpful to Maya.

“I think the most helpful assignments are the ones that are somewhat difficult. It helps me the most because it preps me for state boards. I always learn the most from things that make me try hard.” Get comfortable being uncomfortable!

The Next Step

There are only a few more weeks until Maya will be done with school! What a great way to start off the new year — with a new career! If you are at all interested in following Maya for the rest of her school journey or even just to check out her work, you can check her out on Instagram @maya.corinne.lashes . As far as Maya’s plans after graduation? “After I graduate I will hopefully be working for a lash extension company in Seattle. I hope to build up my clientele enough to start my own business within the next year. I hope to also run classes for people to learn about the correct way to learn how to lash. And when it comes to advice for any incoming students, I couldn’t agree with Maya more. “Get to know the people in the phases above you! They know a lot and will give you advice on things that you’re learning along the way. It helps a lot to know the little quirks people use during a facial or while waxing.”

Once again, Maya, congratulations on winning October’s Bellevue Digital Marketing Award — it is well deserved! You will go far in this industry and we are so excited to see you succeed well past graduation!
