Master Esthetics Student Success Story: Leigh Lamay

Our Everett location was able to share excitement with the student body as they awarded Ms. Leigh Lamay this past month for going above while documenting, building and sharing her business. Watching everyone; student body and staff, cheer as Leigh received her award was heart warming. Knowing Ms. Leigh’s big heart and excitement in her craft was recognized defiantly made a lot of individuals happy as they have watched her grow into her success here at the Evergreen.

About Leigh Lamay

“To share a little bit about myself, I’ll share a few reasons why I decided to look into the beauty industry in the first place. I chose this field because I have done multiple things within the past that fit along with the Master Esthetics program. I have been trained and have worked in the medical field within different avenues; firefighting, emergency medical technician (EMT), and a certified nursing assistant (CNA). Before being enrolled at Evergreen Beauty College I was working in the medical field as a CNA and had been enrolled in nursing school before I decided to go a different route. A CNA can be a very hard job on your body and after some thought I had decided to look into a career that still helps people, but in a different type of way. Once I started looking into Esthetics, I came across Evergreen Beauty College. The touring process is what got me and was one of the reasons I enrolled! Everyone there at the campus was so kind and very interested in what I had to say, ” shared Leigh.

The Evergreen Experience

Since starting the Master Esthetic program with us Ms. Leigh has shared some of her highlights of what she has enjoyed, what has helped her so far and what sets her apart from other master estheticians:

“What I like most about my program so far is the waxing and eyelash extensions we have learned. I also really enjoy and am thankful for how kind all the staff have been to the students and the community and support that they provide for us here at this school.”

“As for assignments? I have found that the study guides and Kahoots (an online reviewing app) have currently been the most helpful at school in that department when it comes to reviewing chapters from the textbooks!  Also all the hands on learning have helped me with the practical portion of this trade, ” Leigh adds in.

“When it comes to my strengths in school, I would have to say it being both waxing and eyelash extensions so far. I’m pretty open to everything though, it’s just what I personally feel I excel in. I always have different classmates and clients that request me because I have the niche for the detailed work it takes to do these services.”

“When you ask what set me apart, that one is a hard question to answer. I feel that I am very close to everyone in the school and around me and I believe we are all very similar. Especially my fellow classmates within my own department here at school. As for what I can offer to my clients, that would be my ability to give them my full attention. I really listen to everything they have to say and I focus on their skincare needs. I believe my history in the medical field comes full circle when it comes to taking care of my clients,” stated Ms. Leigh.

The Next Step

Starting school can sometimes be the easier choice, considering the excitement you feel with moving into a beautiful new career. Well, Ms. Leigh offers some words of advice to the students looking to start a new career, “My advice is quite simple, it would be to give school your all, 100% of your time while your there. Put it as your main focus until it’s complete!”

“After I complete school and pass my boards my plan is to find a Medi-Spa to work at while I gain experience and even more knowledge. Eventually I want to work up to opening my own spa later on in the future, so anything in between now and then is information and skill to get me going in the right direction!” offers Leigh when we asked what her plans were for after school. With the training she has had in the medical field and with what she is learning within school, we’re sure that with hard work that dream will be in your grasp soon enough Leigh!

Ms. Leigh graduates this July 2019 and what better way to support her other than to stop in and see her skills first hand at our Everett campus!
