The sun is up and the waves are calling, but before you head out to the beach, read up on these natural skin care tips for summer to maintain that beautiful glow.

5 Natural Skin Care Summer Tips

You do not need to arm yourself with a ton of cosmetic products to stay safe under the harsh rays. Often, all that is needed are some good old-fashioned tricks and a lot of common sense.

1. Get Plenty of Sleep

If you want to great looking skin, then you have to give your body enough time to rest and rejuvenate every night. Failing to do so could lead to paleness and breakouts, especially on your face. Add the puffy eyes, lethargy, and crankiness that come with lack of sleep and you see a perfect recipe for disaster. Do yourself a favor and sleep early so you can get quality time under the sheets.

2. Water

The body needs to take in large amounts of water every day in order to function well. Good hydration is essential to proper blood circulation, nutrient absorption, digestion, kidney function, and of course healthy skin. Applying lots of moisturizer will not do much if you do not drink enough water. Skin care should be done from the inside as well as the outside.

3. Food

Another way to take care of the skin from within is eat food that is rich in antioxidants and vitamin E. These nutrients prevent cell damage and promote a nice glow from within. While it is possible to get these from supplements and beauty products, the best source is still natural unprocessed food. These are typically found in fruits and vegetables so load upon these every single day.

4. Clothing

Using sunscreen is undoubtedly helpful but this can only do so much under the harsh summer sun. Limit your skin exposure to when the sunlight is tolerable, usually in the early morning and the late afternoon. Cover yourself up with appropriate clothing that’s light and breezy at strategic areas. Don’t forget to wear dark glasses to spare your eyes from harmful glare. Using a wide-brimmed hat at the beach is also a good idea.

5. Sunburn

Even the most diligent among us can get sunburn. One nifty way to soothe the skin is to apply cold yoghurt on the reddish area. The coldness will immediately minimize the pain by numbing the skin. The ingredients are also perfect as anti-inflammatory to keep the swelling down. Do this every hour until the condition improves.
