4 Things We Love About Studying to be a Nail Tech

4-Things-We-Love-About-Studying-to-be-a-Nail-Tech

If you have more nail polish and related paraphernalia than you know what to do with, you’re definitely an excellent nail tech candidate. There are several reasons to consider this occupation. If you’re currently out of work or have a dead-end job, read on to discover these reasons. You’ll be glad you did.

The Freedom

As a nail tech, your schedule is basically up to you. Taking on as many clients as you feel you can handle means that you can work as many hours (and make as much money) as you want to.

The school day itself is relatively short. Students typically attend classes six to eight hours daily, five days a week. This leaves plenty of free time for you to do other things, especially if you choose to attend cosmetology school on a part-time basis. The typical program lasts about six months, which means you’ll be out of school and ready to join the workforce before you know it.

The Creativity

Generally, people who want to work in this field have some sort of artistic background which influences their decision to choose this vocation. Doing nails is essentially an art. This makes it easy to establish your own style. If your work is unique, you have the potential to bring in more clients and create new trends and styles.

The People

If you love interacting with people, working as a nail tech is a perfect fit for you. It won’t take long to discover that every day is different. Part of the philosophy at Evergreen Beauty College, is “students should be laughing and smiling all day long.” It makes sense doesn’t it? After all, you’re not working toward being a nail tech to be around dull, stuffy, people. You’ll see that most clients love visiting the salon and will bring that energy with them during their sessions.

The Potential

Once you become a licensed nail tech, a number of career options become available to you. Most commonly, nail techs find work in nail or beauty salons. Others, however, choose to start their own nail business. Some even develop their own line of products or start new trends in the fashion industry. According to Linda Ray from Chron.com, “The more you put into your future, the higher the returns.”
