In Washington State, Evergreen Beauty College has seven campuses equipped with student-operated salons, supplies, and equipment accessible to students to begin their training. Our cosmetology curriculum covers everything from hair design, hair care, color theory and application, and training in business operations for those wanting to work at a salon or become a salon owner.
Age
According to the Washington Department of Licensing, students must be at least 17 years old to get their cosmetology, esthetician, barber, manicure, esthetician, or master esthetician license.
Can I enroll in the program while still in high school?
Many vocational high schools or high schools work in conjunction with cosmetology programs, allowing students the chance to get introductory lessons in cosmetology. Students can gain hands-on training and acquire an understanding of foundational techniques.
Course outline
To complete the program, students must meet all course requirements in the Evergreen Beauty College course outline. Our students can choose from our flexible schedule options to attend their classes.
Students will study in three phases. The Evergreen Beauty College cosmetology education teaches foundational techniques and skills, including safety and sanitation, chemical processing, comb techniques, hair styling, hair cutting, safely handling professional products, and readying future professionals to consult with clients.
Our cosmetology programs offer some esthetics training, including facial massage and basic facials. If you’re interested in focusing on esthetics, Evergreen offers an esthetics program where you can concentrate on skincare treatments.
Instructors will guide students while they get hands-on training on mannequins before advancing to actual clients. You will learn classic cutting techniques and more contemporary popular techniques. While working with our instructors, you will learn tips from beauty industry professionals on how to consult clients and manage schedules.
Before future cosmetologists can earn their cosmetology license, they must complete all coursework at an accredited cosmetology school. Upon graduation, students are responsible for enrolling for the cosmetology board exam and paying the licensing fee. After completing the exam, you will become a licensed cosmetologist.
