Cosmetology Student Success Story: Jinger Rogers

About Jinger Rogers

Jinger, a Future Professional from our Bellingham Campus created this fun flower color for her client.

Originally from Louisiana, Jinger has been creatively inclined since she was young. She describes herself as “the kid with funky hair colors and different hair styles constantly throughout high school.” Before pursuing a career in the beauty industry, Jinger was an English major in college, but she wasn’t feeling inspired in school. She would much rather do something that felt fulfilling, and she always knew she had a passion for doing hair; “I choose Cosmetology because doing hair always just worked for me. It’s a creative outlet and a career all rolled into one for me.” Since she moved to Washington state 5 years ago, she has heard about Evergreen Beauty College through her friends and decided on impulse to enroll in the Cosmetology program when the Bellingham EBC campus opened.

The Evergreen Experience

Jinger executed this razor cut for her client.

Jinger has truly shown her love for color and unique cuts while at Evergreen. She lets her imagination go wild with hair painting, bright colors and edgy razor cuts that highlight both her and her client’s creativity. Jinger says her strengths are, “Definitely fashion colors. Fashion colors are my jam. They’re so expressive and fun and make everyone smile a little brighter when they see the finished product. That and blonding, since it’s a big part of doing a fashion color, so I’ve been getting really into the blonding.” When we asked Jinger what her favorite part of her Cosmetology program has been so far, this is what she shared with us, “Color services for sure. Any type of coloring. From natural to unnatural colors, as well as doing shags and mullets. Those are always fun.”

The most helpful experiences she’s had so far are both hands on learning and testing, which surprised her, but says the testing is what really cements everything she has learned in her brain. While at Evergreen, Jinger has learned to use her fun personality and talent to help her gain a solid clientele “I think I just have a big personality, which shows through with my appearance, and I’m always ready to put myself out there. I try to create a comfortable but energetic vibe when I’m behind the chair and have genuine conversations.” Shares Jinger.

The Next Step

A beautiful cut and color created by Jinger.

When asked what her goals are for after graduation, Jinger said she would love to work at a local salon and get a few years of working under her belt. But eventually she would like to own her own salon or even possibly become a Cosmetology Instructor. Whatever her future goals are, we know she is going to succeed.

Jinger’s advice for future students is “Put yourself out there and do what makes you happy. Make business cards. Definitely stay on trend, it helps to know what’s popular, as well as keeping with the classics. But mostly, just have fun.”

Jinger is set to graduate in March 2023. If you are interested in following her throughout the rest of her program, you can check her out on Instagram or TikTok at @punkwallflower_hair.
