Cosmetology Student Success Story: Lauren Enright

About Lauren Enright

Beautiful natural balayage done by Ms. Lauren at our Bellingham campus

Before joining the Evergreen Beauty College family, Lauren was drawn to the science field. She obtained her bachelor’s in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology at Washington State University in 2018 and began working in the fitness industry. When the pandemic hit in 2020, Lauren realized she was not satisfied with her career and took this opportunity to reevaluate her career path.

Lauren had always had a passion for all things beauty and art. “Expressing myself creatively is something that has always brought me joy.” Cosmetology had always been a career path that caught Lauren’s attention but was never something she acted on.

After some thought she realized making cosmetology her career would allow her to be excited and happy towards her job. “By changing career paths and studying cosmetology, I can take my passion for creativity and background in science and apply them simultaneously to my career path.” Lauren chose Evergreen Beauty College because of their hands-on education, as well as their business curriculum. “In college, I spent 4 years studying multiple fields of science, but never ventured into the business world. As a hairstylist, having a foundation of business skills will set me apart and lead me to success.” Lauren shares.

The Evergreen Experience

Since starting her journey to become a cosmetologist here at Evergreen Beauty College, Lauren has shared some of her favorite experiences. “So far, I am loving color formulation and application. I have found it to be the most challenging material, but the most interesting at the same time. My goal is to become an expert in color and to provide the most customizable result for my clients.”

Lauren has learned a lot about being a great cosmetologist, and she also applies her past experiences with stylists towards her career. She shares some of her strengths and advice with us. “One of my strengths would have to be my attention to detail. I want every client that comes to see me to feel their absolute best when they leave, and for me to know that I provided the best service I possibly could. I will always take the extra time and steps to give you the best result possible”

“My favorite personal experiences in the salon have been the times where I feel heard and understood by my stylist. Communication is key, and I want you to leave feeling like your absolute best self!” Lauren loves all the hands-on practice at Evergreen Beauty College. “Our instructors are the best of the best and being able to apply their tips and tricks in real life application is the best kind of education I could ask for.”

The Next Step

Ms. Lauren freshened up her client’s hair with a trim and some facial framing.

As Lauren’s graduation date approaches, Lauren has already begun to plan out her next steps in the beauty industry. “My short-term goal is to graduate cosmetology school and begin working in a salon. Continuing education is something I plan to prioritize as well. There are so many amazing stylists out there, and I’m eager to get into a salon where I can continue to learn from the best.”

Later down the line, Lauren plans to expand her career as she gains experience. “My long-term goal is to one day own either my own studio salon, or a small salon with a few chairs. My inspiration comes from many stylists that I have seen over the years, and the relaxing and comforting space they provide. Throughout my career, I want to provide this same experience for my clients.” Lauren explains.

Lauren’s advice towards anyone who is considering entering the beauty industry or joining the Evergreen Beauty College family is “Always accept a challenge! If something scares you, it means you’re probably going to grow as a professional from it. Your educators will not let you mess up, so take that appointment that doesn’t make you feel quite as confident as others. This is your time to make mistakes and learn how to correct them.”

Lauren is set to graduate February of 2023. If you are interested in following her throughout the rest of her program, you can check her out on Instagram: @hair_by_lo. Congratulations Lauren! Evergreen looks forward to seeing you follow your dreams! We wish you all the success!
