Cosmetology Student Success Story: Madisen Hansen

About Madisen Hansen

Sometimes the worst situations can turn into the best. That’s exactly what happened to Ms. Madisen. “Before I enrolled at Evergreen Beauty College I was looking for my path. At the beginning of the pandemic, I was laid off from my job (just like so many others) and it crushed me. I was lost, and didn’t know what road to take. Then my roommate at the time suggested cosmetology school, and a few weeks later I was enrolled. I can’t believe that one of the worst things to happen in my professional life could turn into the most amazing career I could ever imagine.” Madisen shares.

Following her passion and loving what you do helped Madisen decide Cosmetology was the right choice for her. “Since I can remember I’ve been doing my own and my friends hair. It’s something I’ve always been passionate about but never thought to make a career out of until recently. It has been the best decision I’ve ever made.” Madisen explains. “I chose Evergreen Beauty College because my roommate suggested it. A few years ago her dog ran away and the girls at Evergreen did everything they could to help her get her dog back (which she eventually did thankfully). Once I looked in to Evergreen I learned how amazing of a school it was and decided it was where I wanted to start my career.” Ms. Madisen states.

The Evergreen Experience

Madisen created this gorgeous balayage root drag for her client.

Since Madisen started the Cosmetology program with us she shares some of her highlights of what she has enjoyed. “Within cosmetology, I especially enjoy blonding and extensions. I was recently certified in the JZ Styles beaded weft and invisible bead extensions, which is something I’ve wanted to do since I started school. Blonding to me is extremely fun because it is such a transformation, and takes a lot of patience and trust.” Madisen explains.

“When we were on distance education in December, Ms. Roxxy had us create a vision board. I put my heart into it, and created my logo with it. I now have an apron with my logo on it as well as business cards and sweatshirts. Just simply envisioning my future motivated me to push forward and make it my reality sooner rather than later.”

Madisen shares her strengths within her training. “My strengths within my program are in my blonde clients. I love creating dimensional blondes while still bringing them a lot of brightness. I try to keep learning new highlighting and balayaging techniques to add to my repertoire.” Expresses Ms. Madisen. “What sets me apart from other stylists is drive. I have the drive to be the best I can be and make sure my clients leave feeling more beautiful than they felt coming in. I put my heart and soul into every client, and I get my fulfillment from their happiness.”

The Next Step

Ms. Madisen executed this beautiful color for her client.

After graduation Ms. Madisen already has set plans for her future within the beauty industry. “After I graduate, I want to start at a salon as a stylist. I want to build my clientele and do more extensions and blonding, all the while doing continuing education and building my business. My long term goal/dream is to open my own salon.” Shares Madisen.

As Madisen approaches graduation she shares some insight for incoming students. “My advice for incoming students is to just go for it. It’s going to be scary and you’re going to mess up, but you are not going to get better if you never try. I’ve made my fair share of mistakes but, now I feel more confident than ever that I can take on any client that gets thrown my way.”
