Esthetics Student Success Story: Michelle Jarmusch

We awarded a talented student at our Everett campus this past month as she connects and builds her brand; Ms. Michelle Jarmusch story follows.

About Michelle Jarmusch

Many are called into this industry for one reason or another, but Ms. Michelle shares her why, “I chose Esthetic’s because I’ve always loved makeup and beauty. I quickly realized it goes hand in hand with being healthy. Helping people expose their inner beauty on the outside through makeup and skin care, helps me become a better person with each individual. Prior to deciding to switch up careers to become a Esthetician I was a Grooming Salon Manager/Instructor, grooming dogs and cats for the past 12 years. So, in a way I am just focusing on a different type of beauty.”

We asked Michelle to share her reason for picking Evergreen Beauty College to start her journey, “I chose EBC for a number of reasons, the evening Esthetics class they offer allows me to continue to work and provide for my family. I felt the family vibe and was welcomed the moment I walked in, which was a big deal for me. Evergreen also graduates successful EBC students so I knew I’d be taken care of.”

The Evergreen Experience

Since starting the Esthetics program with us Ms. Michelle has shared some of her highlights of what she has enjoyed, what has helped her so far and what sets her apart from other esthetician:

“My favorite part about my program is being taught how to expose my client’s confidence by showing them how beautiful they are in their own skin. This program has also shown me how to safely work on different skin types and how to deal with different people which is critical in the beauty industry. Each client that comes in is different and unique, I listen and do my best to bring out the best in everyone’s beauty through product knowledge and treatment.”

“The most important assignment so far was done during our infection control chapter. I’ve learned of so many negative things that can result if you are not following safety procedures. My clients and my safety is so important, and I want my clients to trust that I am looking out for them! Skin analysis is also another good assignment I’ve done. I start every service by analyzing the skin to ensure I prevent any injuries during their treatment, and I use what I see to make decisions on how to improve the skins appearance.”

“I’d have to say that I have a knack for making people feel comfortable with me and I consider it a strength of mine. I have a good sense of product knowledge as well, which helps me know how to use product effectively and with confidence. My attention to detail is also a strength of mine because I take every little thing into consideration before doing any treatment. I’m not afraid to ask those difficult questions either because I know in order to be able to help my clients in the best way I can, I need to know all the facts. No question is too small or unimportant. If I don’t have an answer or the skills, I’ll find someone who does.

Just because I can’t help you specifically, doesn’t mean I can’t help you. My goal is to help them get to their skincare goals, so together we’ll find the best route possible to ensure we do just that.”

The Next Step

Michelle is about half way through her program with us, we asked her what her goals were for after school, “After graduation I want to gain experience and knowledge that will eventually blossom into owning my own spa. So ultimately just jumping into the industry in anyway I can, but I still have some time to carve out the details.”

“My advice to future students is keep an open mind. TRY EVERYTHING! You will surprise yourself with what you will learn about yourself and where each experience will take you.

If you plan on providing a service , experience it! Lastly always wear your smile and stay positive!”

Ms. Michelle is set to graduate this May, 2020. And if you are interested in following Michelle throughout the rest of her program, you can check her out on Instagram: @michelle_jarmusch . Congratulations Michelle! We can not wait to see where you go and the relationships you build along the way.
