Esthetics Student Success Story: Stephanie Sturlaugson

About Stephanie Sturlaugson

Stephanie represents her business Utopian Alure

Before starting her journey at Evergreen Beauty College, Stephanie had already completed her bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Business Administration at Western Washington University. Stephanie says, “I had a great job where I loved the people that I worked with!  I worked at this job for just under 10 years and although I enjoyed it, I was feeling unfulfilled. It felt like I hadn’t found what I was called to do.” Over the course of the last eight years, Stephanie was actively pursuing attending Evergreen Beauty College; however, with getting married, buying a house, and having two children – it hadn’t been in the cards for her until the fall of 2021 when she was finally able to enroll.

Stephanie chose the Esthetics program because she loves people! She says, “I love helping people, I love inspiring people, I love encouraging people, but most of all I love making people feel good! I am sure that I will be able to use my passion for skincare, hair, makeup, lashes, and nails to positively impact the lives of others; it is my calling!”

Stephanie had originally reached out to Mr. Frank Trieu back in 2014 for information over Evergreen Beauty College. She had known since then, that Evergreen Beauty College would be the school that she would attend eventually. Fortunately, in the spring of 2021 it seemed the stars aligned for Stephanie, “I found out that Evergreen Beauty College was opening a campus here in Bellingham! Eight years after I first reached out to Evergreen Beauty College and tried to find a way to get back to school, I was finally able to enroll and pursue my dream of becoming an Esthetician.”

The Evergreen Experience

Classic Lash Extension set by Stephanie

Since starting her journey to become an Esthetician here at Evergreen Beauty College, Stephanie has shared some of her favorite parts of the program. “I have found that the services I enjoy the most are the ones that offer the instant gratification. I love doing lashes because immediately after the service my clients can see the results.  Lashes are also fun because they provide a challenge. Lashes come in different lengths, diameters, and curls. Every client ‘s eye shape is different as well as their lashes, so the lash possibilities are endless and so much fun to learn and create!”

Stephanie also shares with us her strengths as an Esthetician, “throughout the course of the Esthetics program I’ve done microdermabrasion’s, express facials, custom facials, nano pen, dermaplaning, eyelash extensions, and waxing. I’ve loved every minute of every spa appointment and I think my attention to detail and desire to help people look and feel amazing has and will allow me to excel in Esthetics!”

What sets Stephanie apart as an Esthetician is her warm and welcoming personality. She says “I know I said this earlier, but I love customer service and I love making people happy. I want to have a positive impact on your day, whether that is a brief interaction at the grocery store or a two-hour long lash appointment. I look forward to building long lasting relationships with clients and using my expertise and attention to detail to provide high-quality services.”

Stephanie’s favorite assignment at Evergreen so far has been finding her own clients. “During the second phase of the Esthetics course, we had our first spa day where clients could make an appointment to come into the spa on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. As students we were responsible for filling our own appointments. I found that this part of the program was the most realistic and helpful for me. It opened my eyes to what my appointments and scheduling would be like in the future and forced me to do some networking and advertising!”

The Next Step

As Stephanie’s graduation date approaches, she has already begun to plan out her next steps in the beauty industry. “After I complete school, I plan on scheduling my state testing in July 2022 and then opening my own treatment room in Whatcom County. The name of my business will be Utopian Allure!”

Stephanie’s advice to incoming students is to not give up. “This probably sounds very cliché, but my advice to anyone would be to follow your passions and don’t give up.

You really can do anything that you put your mind to. You must work hard, dream BIG, and never give up!”

Stephanie is set to graduate July of 2022. If you are interested in following her throughout the rest of her program, you can check her out on Instagram: @utopianallure. Congratulations Stephanie! Evergreen looks forward to seeing you follow your dreams! We wish you all the success!

Great write up Stephanie. I would like to make an appointment with you if possible. I need attention to my facial skin. I lost weight recently and I have deep wrinkles. Can you help me?
