How to Become a Successful Mobile Hair Stylist

A mobile hair stylist is a professional hairdresser who offers services at the client’s preferred location.

The stylist may travel to the client’s home or place of work, nursing homes and any other locations that the customer may prefer. The stylist offers most, if not all, of the services offered by salons. Some of the services offered by the stylist include:

  • Haircuts
  • Special event styling
  • Hair treatment
  • Hair coloring
  • Hair straightening
  • Perms

While some prefer to operate from service vehicles, others bring their tools and services right into the client’s home or preferred location. In addition to offering hair styling services, most mobile stylists offer a wide range of services such as facials, waxing, manicures, pedicures, tanning, massages and many more services.

Cases When a Mobile Hair Stylist Can Be Useful

1. On special occasions, such as weddings, it would be more convenient to employ the services of a mobile stylist who can come directly to the bridal party’s location.

2. Busy parents may also benefit greatly from the services of a mobile stylist. A mother would not have to take her child to the salon or employ a baby sitter in order to visit the salon.

3. For most people, finding the time to visit the salon during normal working hours is almost impossible. A mobile stylist offers the best alternative.

4. Assisted living facilities also prefer using the services of a mobile hair and makeup professional.

How to Become a Successful Mobile Hair Stylist

In order to succeed in the mobile hair and beauty styling business and enjoy the freedom of choosing preferred clients as well as working hours, certain key factors are important.

  • Formal hair styling qualifications are necessary in order to succeed in this venture. Due to the intense competition in this field, excellent training is essential in order to attract more clients. Choose a cosmetology school that is renowned for training hair stylists.
  • In order to become a successful mobile hair and beauty professional, a person needs to be confident. A confident personality attracts clients and makes people have faith in your ability.
  • For any business to succeed, adequate organization is paramount. This is also true to the mobile hairdressing business. To become a successful mobile hairdresser, a person needs to come up with a clear business plan, have an excellent bookkeeping system and always keep appointments.
  • Honesty and professionalism are important qualities that boost the success of any business. Clients will always go for mobile hair professionals who display a high degree of honesty, are clean, smart, friendly and reliable.

Talking to other people who have succeeded in this line of work can be helpful in learning how to become a successful hair stylist.

I agree that it would be nice to have a hair salon that could come to a wedding and do the bride’s hair there. It would save the bride from getting her hair ruined on the way to the wedding. Also, the wedding would have fewer chances of getting delayed.
