Nail Technology Student Success Story: Anel Franco

About Anel Franco

Before Anel Franco enrolled in her journey at Evergreen Beauty College, she had just started working a retail job. It was then, she decided that she didn’t want to work for anyone, become her own boss, and work on her own time.

With this power, it would allow her to be present in the life of her two daughters and follow a passion that she had found at a young age.

Anel was fifteen when she realized she wanted to give doing nails a shot. She had a difficult time trying to teach herself, so she decided to stop. However, the passion of nails always sat inside her, and in November of 2021, she decided to give it another shot, and pursue as more than a hobby. Due to this passion, she decided to enroll at Evergreen Beauty College after hearing about family member’s experiences at the school.

The Evergreen Experience

When Anel started her program, she found that her strengths lied in her acrylic sets. She loves the freedom you’re able to achieve by expressing yourself through your nails and seeing that through her clients as well. “Seeing my client’s reaction when they see their nails makes me happy, especially the feeling I get knowing that I just helped someone feel better about themselves,” Anel shared.

Anel has found that she has been able to get her speed down and being able to keep within a timeframe for her acrylic sets. “I like to stay in between my time frame. Typically, my sets can range in time from an hour and forty minutes to three hours. That time will depend on the simplicity of the nail set, and I am able to keep a conversation going while providing the service.” Anel shared that she is always up for a challenge for any ideas that her clients have and is excited for what they bring to her.

As far as what has helped Anel progress through her program, she has found having a hybrid program to be successful. “I have learned a lot from the chapters, and the tests help a lot. I’m able to see what the most important things to know are.”

The Next Step

After Anel graduates, she plans to work from home while she builds her clientele. However, she is aiming big. “My long-term goal is to be able to get my own studio to work from. I would love to have a little place to call my own.” She takes a lot of pride in her activity on social media and has started to build her clientele that way.

When asked if she had advice for incoming students, Anel said, “Just go for it. Beauty school can be a roller coaster of emotions, but it will be worth it in the end. Follow your dreams and don’t let anyone bring you down.”
