What Types of Fake Nails are There?

Using fake nails to get long and beautiful nails that look polished and stylish is a trend that has been around for decades and that is still immensely popular among most women in the world. There are several different fake nail types that each have their own distinct benefits and drawbacks that should be considered. Are you interested in the difference between acrylic, gel, and faux nails? Read below.

Acrylic Nails

This type of fake nail is incredibly beautiful when executed correctly. This type of nail of false nails is offered at a majority of nail salons. It takes about an hour to complete, and they generally stay put for around three to four weeks depending on the care that they received when being worn. This type of nail is great for those that want a long lasting manicure. There can be some drawbacks however. Depending on the state of your natural nail before application, they can dry out the nail bed and cause some damage. Be aware of the amount of time you wear acrylic nails to maintain healthy nails.

Press On Nails

This type of nail is best for those that want a very temporary nail extension. These nails are often one sheet of plastic that either has an adhesive on the back already or that is applied to the nail with a nail glue that is much akin to a super glue or very strong acrylic glue. This type of glue is very hard to remove from nails and there should be some solvent used to help reduce potential damage. This type of nail is best for those that want the nail look without the harsh effects of acrylic nails or other nail options.

Gel Nails

This last type of nail is best for those that want the look of acrylic nails but do not want the damage that acrylic nails can cause. This type of fake nail does not add length to nails but does add strength and bulk. This process takes about forty five minutes and is semi-permanent lasting around two weeks before filling is needed or before chips begin to appear. With any nail process it is important to weigh all the options and even to talk to a nail professional to understand what process and style is best for you.
