Esthetics Student Success Story: Grace Lochmann
About Grace Lochmann
Before Grace Lochmann started her journey in the field of Esthetics, she was attending school in a traditional university setting for business. Deep down, she realized that she did not have a passion for business the way she did for making others feel beautiful.
As a child, Grace found that she always loved things of glamour, whether it was makeup, face masks, or having spa nights with her sister. When Grace was in high school, she had others her age asking her to do their makeup for homecoming, prom, football games or cheer competitions. Through this, she found that she loved making others feel beautiful. After finding out some people she knew had attended Evergreen Beauty College, Grace embarked on her journey.
The Evergreen Experience
After Grace found her footing in school and got into the swing of things, she has found that eyebrows have become a focal point of her program. “I mostly enjoy waxing and shaping brows. Eyebrows are the first thing someone sees when they look at your face. They’re just so satisfying to work with, and I love the end result after tinting, shaping and lamination!” In addition, she loves the relaxation aspect of facials and what they can provide to the guest.
Another strength Grace has found is in her eyelash extension skills. “I love practicing eyelashes, and they’re so nice to wake up in the mornings with! I have so much to learn, but I enjoy them,” she shared.
When it comes to theory, she has also found interactive, full-class activities helpful to review, including live quizzes, and fill in the blanks on the whiteboard. Persistence overall has been the most helpful.
The Next Step
Grace has a full deck of plans after she graduates from her program. “I plan to work alongside another Esthetician at a spa to get some experience and gain some clientele. Once I’m stable enough, I hope to branch out on my own! I love the idea of owning a salon or spa where hairstylists, Estheticians, tattoo artists, permanent makeup artists, and more an all work together and give the clients an experience. My best friend Courtney and I want to pursue this endeavor together,” she eagerly shared.
To help build her clientele, she finds that her passion for both her clients and the craft will help set her apart. “I already love performing services for my clients, and I really care about helping other people feel great about themselves. Clients can expect to get my full attention and my best efforts to provide a great service when booking with me! I truly care about trying my best and striving to keep on learning.”
When asked if she had advice for future students and Estheticians, Grace shared, “The best advice I can give is to stay motivated. It’s so easy to forget why you started. Keep that vision close to you. School will fly by before you know it! Set daily reminders on your phone to give you that push you to get through the day or even the week, and as soon as you know it, you’re graduated and on your next step to your vision.
Grace Lochmann is scheduled to graduate in November. If you’d like to follow along on her journey, please follow her on Instagram @grace.e.esthetics! Congratulations Grace! We wish you all the success!
