Ms. Lacey grew up in Maple Valley, Washington and graduated from Tahoma High School in the summer of 2019. In middle school, she often switched her hairstyles, and even started doing her own hair color. For practice, she would foil her aunts hair and would do fun fashion colors on her cousins. Ms. Lacey loved the reaction she would get after the completed look was done. Since then, she knew her calling in life was to be a hair stylist. Two weeks out of high school, Lacey started her journey with us at Evergreen.

Prior to working at a salon in Covington, Washington as a guest coordinator, Ms. Lacey worked at Pizza Hut. “I would probably still be working there had I not pursued this career path right after high school.” Lacey stated. With her mind set on being apart of the beauty industry, Lacey is working hard to graduate and obtain her license this year. Starting her career at the age of 19, isn’t something everyone can say they’ve accomplished, and Ms. Lacey is excited to be amongst those few.

The Evergreen Experience

What Lacey enjoys this far in her program is making her clients feel beautiful with her creativity and placements when it comes to color services. She also recognizes her strengths in long layered haircuts, foils, and balayages. “I chose Evergreen Beauty College in Renton because of the location,” shares Ms. Lacey as she wanted to be in an area where she could experience all hair types. Lacey also adds, “The educators are amazing at teaching different techniques when it comes to experiencing different cultures and the services that may need to be executed differently in this area.”

One of the area’s Ms. Lacey is strong in, is sharing her recommendations for products that will help maintain the over all look her clients are investing in. Any stylist can complete a service, but it takes a true stylist to follow through on advice that will further invest and maintain the color and integrity of the hair that makes the difference in this industry. As for the theory portion in school, Ms. Lacey enjoys “Doing Kahoots in class so I can see what I know, which helps me better understand what I need to study.” Aside from working on her chrome book, she ordered the Milady book which helps her study physically by being able to highlight the important things she needs to remember. Finding different ways to connect the information is extremely important, and it shows that Ms. Lacey is in it for the long haul and on her way to success.

Once she completes her program, Ms. Lacey has decided to take the Associate Program through the salon she is currently working for. This opportunity will provide time to shadow a licensed stylist; that one on one with someone who has years of experience in this industry. A goal for Lacey is to build her product knowledge as well as learn new techniques and by expanding her knowledge will only help her jump start her career.

“For incoming students, my recommendation would be for them to always work hard throughout the program and remain consistent. Never settle for less and once it comes to the end of your program, it will be smooth sailing from there!” Lacey states.

Ms. Lacey Doyal is set to graduate next July, 2020. To follow Lacey as she grows within Evergreen by achieving her goals as a hairstylist, you can find her on Instagram: @BeautyByLaceyyy.
