Hair Design Student Success Story: Stephanie Franco
About Stephanie Franco
By the age of 13 Stephanie was drawing Japanese Manga and overtime that led to her love of water color, macramé, and soap making. That creativity eventually led 13 year old Stephanie into her mom’s bathroom, where she would color her own hair leaving her mom’s bathroom floor covered with stains of hair color whilst finding her passion for hair. When asked why Stephanie chose Hair Design, her reply was nothing short of amazing, “Challenging my creative mind is something I hold dear to my heart and though I still love most of these things, the one that has stayed consistent has been my passion for hair.” States Stephanie.
Prior to starting with us at Evergreen Beauty College, Stephanie was just like any other young adult trying to figure out what is next after High School. “The plans and goals I had fell through and I felt so lost. Going back to school was always a priority, so as I got back in touch with my passion for hair, I finally pulled the trigger. Once I started at Evergreen Beauty College, I knew it was right for me!”
The Evergreen Experience
Since starting the Hair Design program with us Ms. Stephanie has shared some of her highlights of what she has enjoyed, what has helped her so far and what sets her apart from other stylist: “Some of my favorite things to do are clean fades, fashion colors, and free-hand painting techniques like balayage. I’m a very determined and spontaneous person who is actively learning something new.” Shares Stephanie.
As someone who is also introverted, I find that I’m always pushing myself out of my comfort zone within the beauty industry, but have been able to learn so much! Learning to be comfortable being uncomfortable is a great life skill I never thought I needed. Hands-on-learning is how I learn best, so immediately taking clients has helped me so much! “As for what set’s me apart from other stylist? As much as I love doing hair, what I cherish most is being able to help someone feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. I think most of us can agree that society’s beauty standards has affected us negatively in one way or another, so if I can help make even just a small positive change, that means a lot to me.”
The Next Step
With her time wrapping up at Evergreen, we asked Stephanie what her plans were after graduation and she shared, “After I graduate, I would like to find a part-time job as a hairstylist and travel anywhere with my dog, Osiris. Moving might also be in the cards, but we’ll see what happens!” Explains Stephanie. When asked what advice Ms. Stephanie would like to share to incoming students, her advice is this, “If it’s something you know you want to do, even if you aren’t 100% certain, go for it. It might just be what you’re looking for!”
Ms. Stephanie Franco is set to graduate this October 2021, and what better way to support her other than to stop by our Yakima campus!
