A story into the Beauty Industry from a Cosmetologist

Watch this inspiring 5 minute video above on how a refugee student can make it big in the beauty industry.

I remember the first time we met Ahmed.  We were outside at a coffee stand in our school parking lot with one of my educators as this young man rides his bicycle passed us smiling and waves hello. I asked him where he was going and he said to work at Fred Meyers. Day after day I see Ahmed riding his bike, sunshine or rain with this big smile.  He stopped one day to let me know that Fred Meyers had some great deals and sales going on and if I ever stopped off to let him know and he would take care of me.

All I could think of was, WOW.  What great energy and a caring person?  When our next Cosmetology class started, I walked into orientation to welcome all of our new students.  There I saw this gentleman dressed in a suit and tie with a big smile on his face and a bicycle helmet in his hand. It was Ahmed.

Ahmed left his home country to start a new life for himself in the United States.  Throughout school he worked very hard both inside of school and outside of school. Between work and school he would probably average about 80 hrs a week not counting all his bike rides as he could not afford a car. Between school and work, Ahmed would be in the school checking his appointment books to see how many clients he had for the next day and how many billable slots he had to fill before school the next day as his schedule for school is every other day.

A young man that has left his country to build the American dream has taken his hard sincere work ethic and embraces the Nuts & Bolts principles to work smarter and build a future for him and some day, a future family.  With a hard work ethic, openness to the new ways and a sincere heart for people, Ahmed’s pathway leads to success in relationships which in return will lead to a healthy business.
