Cosmetology Student Success Story: Karen De Nova

This past month our Renton location recognized Ms. Karen De Nova for going above and beyond connecting with future clientele online. An award was awarded, with many, I’m sure to follow. We are beyond excited for Ms. Karen as she has set the tone for the flourishing campus and the future professionals to follow. Congrats Karen, I can not wait to share your story!

 About Karen De Nova

“One of the reasons I chose to enroll in a cosmetology program was because ever since I can remember; being really young, I loved to do hair and make up. I was even really good at it!” states Karen. “Before beauty school though, I was in the food industry still trying to figure out what I wanted to do in life. I decided on doing something I had always loved to do before hand, hair!” shares Karen. Karen, being like many others before her found herself wanting more in life and fell back on what she enjoyed. We are excited you did Karen, your work flooding your social media is beautiful! You sure have a way of catching the true creation you work on in the chair.

The Evergreen Experience

Since starting school Karen shares some highlights of her program so far that she has found helpful, along with areas that sets her apart from your average stylist:

“I’m still trying to figure out what my favorite thing is in school, but as for now I have really enjoyed make up and hair styles. For this reason I would consider the braiding aspect of styling a strength of mine. I wasn’t one that struggled with the execution of them, as they have come easy to accomplish for me,” replies Karen.

As for assignments, Ms. Karen has really taken to a different approach than other peers, “I think just having my teacher there explaining everything has been the most helpful! Not necessarily a typical assignment but more the collaboration of my educators walking me through any of the assignments and projects,” shares Karen. This industry thrives on this type of education and instruction that Karen is referring too. We aren’t your traditional college and we’re glad that Karen has taken this away from her program so far.

“Every stylist is unique, you won’t find one that is the same. What makes me different is probably my personality. I’m a very open person and I will always ask, ‘what is wanted’,  without judging the client. I also believe that’s part of the reasons why a clients should book with me, I’m friendly, super nice and I will never let my clients leave feeling disappointed!” expressed Karen.

The Next Step

Karen shared what she will be looking into after she graduates, “First off, I’d like to start out in a salon to get started with my career and eventually start my own business in hair,” Karen says. With over nine months until her graduation, Karen has plenty of time to perfect her craft before heading out into the industry.

“Evergreen Beauty College was the first school I saw on my feeds through my social media profiles. Once I visited the campus , I just really like the atmosphere and the people there. Don’t be afraid, I promise no one bites and you will fall in love with the program,” shares Karen.

Ms. Karen is set to graduate in July of next year, 2019 and what better way to support her other than to come in and receive a service done by her at our Renton campus. You will not be disappointed!
