Cosmetology Student Success Story: Skye Jimenez

About Skye Jimenez

A gorgeous outcome of this reverse balayage with teasy light pieces!

When one door closes another door opens, and that’s exactly what happened with Skye Jimenez when she had the chance to pursue her dreams of being a Cosmetologist. “I worked and managed a bank for 11 years and to be honest I dreaded it. Once my location closed, I sat with my husband and parents and shared my dream once again of going to cosmetology school and he told me to shoot for my dreams and go! We never regretted it once!” Skye states.

Skye knew from a young age cosmetology was going to be in her future because she found joy and passion in what she does and how she can help people. “I chose cosmetology because hair and makeup are my passion. Ever since I was little, I entered beauty pageants and cheerleading and I always lend a hand in hair and makeup with others. I found so much joy in it. To see someone, feel beautiful with a little transformation is all I need!”

We asked Skye why she chose Evergreen Beauty College, this is what she had this to say: “I looked into different schools and talked to a handful of trusted friends, and they attended or had someone attend Evergreen. They spoke highly of the staff and what the school believed in. Once I talked to Jessica about enrolling, I knew deep down this is where I was meant to be.” explains Skye.

The Evergreen Experience

Fun fashion colors for Skye’s client.

Since starting the Cosmetology program, Skye has shared some of her highlights of what she has enjoyed, what has helped her so far, and what sets her apart from other Cosmetologist. “I love hair coloring the most! I find my artistic passion come alive when I am able to paint and transform someone’s hair! To see all the dimension and colors it fascinates me.” Skye expresses. Every students learns differently and we love when students find their niche learning style and really hone in on it. “All the hands on work has been most helpful. I learn better with doing more so than watching. I love being able to try something and have the experience.”

When it comes to Skye’s strengths and what she offers to her clients she explained: “I would definitely say hair color. I am very efficient and love coming up with new ways to learn different techniques and to see my vision come alive! It was also the main reason for me enrolling into cosmetology school. I know understand why my own hairstylist would do things!” explains Skye. “I am very passionate about hair colors, mostly foils, balayage and foilayge, on my down time I watch tons of hairstylists ways of these methods and love the creative part of it. I love lots of dimension and being able to really transform the client’s hair. I am really OCD when it comes to this and feel like this is my strong suite.”

The Next Step

A beautiful pink color Skye, a Cosmetology student in our Mount Vernon campus created.

As Skye plans her future within the beauty industry, she also shares advice for incoming students. “My plans are to get into a salon and continue to grow in my career. Absorb all the knowledge and new techniques I can and continue to build my clientele. Eventually, I would love to own my own salon or do something fun with a RV shell and customize it to a mini salon.” States Skye. “Believe in yourself and all that you are! Know and believe that in yourself there is something greater than any obstacle you face.”

Skye is set to graduate February of 2023. If you are interested in following her throughout the rest of her program, you can check her out on Instagram: @styled.byskyej. Congratulations Skye! Evergreen looks forward to seeing you follow your dreams!
