Cosmetology Student Success Story: Stephanie Lee

About Stephanie Lee

A beautiful execution of this purple and pink blended fashion color on her client.

Before deciding to enroll at Evergreen Beauty College, Stephanie Lee was working and going to college all the while researching where she wanted to attend Cosmetology school. She shared, “I toured two other schools and then did a virtual tour with Evergreen. My decision was made!” Stephanie shared that with the support from her mentor and from her first step in Admissions the process simple. “I chose Evergreen Beauty College because all the staff I talked to, before even signing up, were super friendly. The building was clean, and the website was laid out so clearly. My most tedious questions were answered.”

The Evergreen Experience

Stephanie’s client left so happy with his new haircut.

Since starting the Cosmetology program with us Stephanie Lee has shared some of her highlights of what she has enjoyed, what has helped her so far, and what sets her apart from other Cosmetologist. “Making people feel good is my goal, every day. I feel most confident when doing color. An all over color on a client is so exciting and really interesting to trust the process.” The Cosmetology curriculum includes more than color to students. After being introduced to waxing Stephanie is enjoying learning this new skill and hopes to further education in this area as well.

Stephanie feels what sets her apart from other future professionals is her attention to detail. Whether consulting, taking on a short hair cut or color she is feeling more proficient and confident. She says, “understanding what the client wants and suggesting ideas or styles when they are unsure of what they want or need. I stay focused, friendly, and knowledgeable with explaining the process and any retail to help maintain their look. I genuinely care about people and am always up for the client conversation! I want every client to feel welcome.”

Stephanie is currently within the phase 2 portion of her program taking clients on the salon floor. While she is learning hair cutting techniques Stephanie is also utilizing the skills, she will need to build her own business. She said the assignments that have been most helpful were those that were the hands on and Instructor lead demonstrations. “I also like the bingo sheets to keep us on track. Working with other students and learning together is my favorite thing.”

 The Next Step

Stephanie Lee, a Future Professional at our Mount Vernon Campus did a deep condition, haircut and a thermal style for her client.

We asked Stephanie about her plans after graduation. “Once I graduate my program, my goal is to rent a booth in a salon.  Ultimately, my long-term career plan is to eventually have a salon in my home. This way I can take care of my family and work in the same place!”

Planning a future in the beauty industry? Stephanie has some advice for all new incoming students or even if you are on the fence with the decision to come to school at Evergreen Beauty College. “My advice for incoming students is to go for it! Don’t overthink everything and know that you’re capable of whatever you set your mind to! At Evergreen you will always have support and the tools you need to succeed.”

Stephanie is set to graduate this upcoming July of 2022. If you are interested in following her throughout the rest of her program, you can check her out on Instagram: @cosmetologywithstephanie.
