Cosmetology Student Success Story: Tristyn Fish

Our Bellevue’s location awarded one of their cosmetologist an award this past month for going above and beyond to build her brand name. I am excited to share Ms. Tristyn Fish’s story with you as she is closing in the last months of her program with us.

About Tristyn Fish

Ms. Tristyn shares a little about herself, “Before enrolling at Evergreen, I was attending WSU. While attending WSU I wasn’t feeling passionate about what I was doing and going for, so I decided to leave and do something I’m actually interested in which would be the hair industry. So I decided to enroll in the cosmetology program at Evergreen Beauty College.”

“One of the reasons I chose to enroll at Evergreen verse another school was because when I toured the school, everyone was happy and that says a lot. The students and staff seemed like a family instead of a typical coworker and everyone was excited about the things they were doing and learning,” shares Tristyn.

 The Evergreen Experience

Since starting school Tristyn shares some highlights of her program so far that she has found helpful, along with areas that sets her apart from your average stylist:

“So far in my program, I enjoy doing color services out of everything else that we have learned. Color was the first segment I learned here at Evergreen and it has become pretty natural to me. I have always enjoyed getting to do color services where I was using my artistic side for any of my balayage, highlights and fashion colors services,” stated Tristyn.

“Throughout my program, it has helped immensely to have Ms. Tucker as my educator in Phase 2. Ms. Tucker goes above and beyond to make sure each student thoroughly understands how to perform our services, and that we feel comfortable in doing them. If there is a particular service that Tucker has noticed more than one of her students are not comfortable and confident in, she will go out her way and dedicates her personal time to set up a class that focuses on whatever we are struggling in so we can get more comfortable with it.”

“A strength of mine is that I will always strive to do my best and achieve my client’s desired look. I am a perfectionist, thus I take my time to understand the clients needs and wants and do my best to make sure that I do everything I can to give my clients a great service. Although I might be slower at certain things than other stylists, I take pride in the fact that I always try my hardest and am always wanting to be learning while giving the clients their desired looks. I take the time to ensure that my clients will leave satisfied and in love with the results,” stated Tristyn. Especially in school, the future professionals are always working on timing so the fact that Tristyn is perfecting her crafting skills and fundamentals is huge. Sounds like her clients are the #1 concern, letting the rest pick up and follow.

 The Next Step

Where will Ms. Tristyn be off too once her program is complete you may wonder, “After I finish my program, I would love to work at Chromatique Salon. I am currently working at Chromatique as a receptionist on the days that I am not in school, I enjoy my time there and love getting to know the stylists and estheticians. The owner, Samantha Lawrence, has created an amazing environment and I would love to continue working for the salon as a stylist once I pass my boards and am licensed,” explains Tristyn.

“To any students looking to future their dreams like I did not long ago, I offer words of advice: Be yourself. The best thing you can do when starting your program, is to keep an open mind and allow yourself to be a little out of your comfort zone and trust that the educators here at Evergreen as they have your best interests in mind at all times,” shared Tristyn.

Ms. Tristyn graduates next March 2019 and what better way to support her other than to stop in and see her at our Renton location as she finishes her program there!
