Diary Cosmetology Student |Bellevue|

Fortunately I’m in texture month at the moment and I had come home to my mom combing out my younger sister’s hair.

It sounded like an uncomfortable experience. The more in depth we got into the texture module the better I was able to grasp why she was having such a terrible experience. It was not being taken care of properly due to my mom not being fully educated about my sister’s specific hair texture. Her beautiful head of hair had been neglected.

I then came to school and had told my instructor about the situation. I had asked her what could I do, what should I do, how do I do it. She had recommended twisting. Come that weekend I had took my time combing her hair out and twisting it. It was her first time ever having something different done to her hair and not only that she remained patient and she was very cooperative which I was shocked by because she is only four but I had promised her that it would be well worth it.

So after an hour or two I was finally finished and she had looked in the mirror and her face lit up.

I’m happy I was able to make it a better experience for her. She always claims she wants straight hair or different hair and it felt amazing to help her embrace what she has and contribute to the self confidence she deserves.
